sorry to be annoying, but I must have got lucky with this as I don't have any of the problems listed here so far. It all runs very well with the extra ram and intel wifi (touch wood).

THat pixellation/artifacting of your windows will be because it's running in 16bit colour.

I'm running in 32bit and it still happens.

I get that very slightly on the LCD at like 180 degree viewing angles on my Acer, I put it down to the screen being ass. Nowhere near as bad as that though.
I think they do. Search the old thread.. link can be found at the start of this thread.Originally Posted by weebroonieuk

hello folks just playing with mines just now
just wondering if anyone has managed to get another driver for the touchpad working as its hardwork going for the scroll bar all the time or pressing up and down im used to moving up and down on the side of the pad
i cant seem to find who makes the touchpad like synaptics which is the maker of other ones
think i should just download it and try it ?
yep - i have exactly the same screen blotches on my screen in exactly the same place. and i also have it in 32bit mode. i have a medion sim 2000 but im sure when i had the advent version of this same laptop it never did that.
also im going to put a mini pci wifi card in.... but.... will it be controled by the hardware button and light on the laptop or will it have to powered up using the software???
Radley, if depends on the wifi card you get if its intel then you can turn it on and off via the hardware button but if its another make its just not compatible and the hardware button will do nothing
Kool cheers m8. another quick one. do everyone elses cpu fans slow down when not needed or do they always run at full speed. mine always does but its quite loud!
dont thnk my fan has changed speed once , i would have thought it would
Hi all, don't know how many of you still have your Medions, but I was in a firmware mood yesterday, and searched for the DVD+RW drive, and found an update, 1.02 (MEDION), here: http://tdb.rpc1.org/#GWA4040N
This changes the label to +/-, and I've just tested it, and it actually burned a TDK DVD-R! Give it a go...
In case you don't know...
To flash, just to be safe, remove any discs in the drive, quit antivirus software/anything which might access the drive on shutdown, and run the program, wait a minute for it to complete, and when it says so, restart immediately, and you will hopefully have a +/- burner!
Cheers,
James
