Thanks guys, very helpful I've read through the threads, and have given it a proper go... and am struggling to get past 2.3ghz I'm running bios 1008, here's what I've got:

    HTT ("CPU Frequency"): 220
HTT Multiplier ("Hyper Transport Frequency"): 3x
Memory Divider ("Mac Memclock"): 200 (100 x 2, just to take RAM out of the equation)
    PCI Clock: 33mhz

If I bump the HTT up to 240, the system hangs on the very first bios boot screen (with the CPU, RAM and IDE report). I've tried the CPU volts at 1.4 but still no luck All the other volts are on auto, should I try setting them manually?

Bumped up the vcore to 1.55 (max on this board), and still hanging on the first bios boot screen :/ I've set the ram to 2T and running at 2 x 100mhz so it can't be that. When I attempted 2.4ghz, the monitor displayed "out of range", which possibly suggests somethings up with the gfx card? I have an X800gto2. There is an option in bios for "PCI Express Clock", it's at 100mhz at the moment, do I need to be changing that?

Think I've reached the limit with mine at at 290x10. Still testing but it seems very stable at this speed. It's very unstable if I go higher even if I give it lots more volts...

Really need some decent memory though as mine is currently at 193Mhz! Will have to play around with the multipliers etc and see if I can find something a bit better!!

    I've got a FPAW, and managed to prime for ~8hrs+ at 290 x 10 with my HTT multi on X4, and 2GB Geil Ultra-x running at ~214 @ 2-2-5-2..

Gonna try and get over 3gig stable, hoping it shouldn't be 2 hard, as I've only just started tinkering

Hmm. Do we have a specific "best" end code on the steppings, FPAW, FPBW etc.?

I'm struggling big time overclocking my 146 on an A8N-SLi Premium, and have started a thread here:

    http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/sho...php?t=17493118

If anyone could offer any suggestions, please do, I'm all ears. I've read and re-read all the guides, but I think it's gone past that now - somethings up, the job is to find out what exactly. Any help much appreciated!

As you suggested in your post on the OcUK forums, it could well be the power supply. You are running a lot of devices from the supply, and it is generally best to use one of the newer PSU's with 24 pin connector.
Have you tried OCing with only the boot hard drive connected, may indicate if there are poewr problems?
I remember reading on the DFI-street forum there are good settings to have the PCI express clock set to, they recomend 101 for Nvidia GFX and 105 for ATI. I don't know if this was DFI specific or general though.

    Good luck mate.

    right mine opteron 146 CABYE 0540 FPMW is currently memtest, prime95 and superPi stable @ 1m, 32m.. 2.9ghz 10x290. mem @ 2.5,3,3,6 1t.

cant be arsed going any more done loads of testing this weekend, just now want to get my system up nd running. this cpu can do 3ghz no probs as i had it 10x300, but needs a lot of mem tweaking which can be arsed any more.

prob do more in a month or summit.

Yep, most of my testing was done without any HD at all! Just complete bare bones, if it works it just goes to the "no boot device" error... this is why I'm not mega optimistic about it being a power problem :/ Thanks for the tip on PCI-E clock, I'll give that a whirl.

u really need to test in windows m8 with all your hardware in. memtest+ althought it passes using test 5 or 8, you really need to do it in windows, coz it will prob fail in superPi, if its faisl superPi, prime will almost fail.

    I am happy now, prime95 pass @ 6hours @2.9ghz 2.5,3,3,6-1t and also superPi pass at 1m/32m.

no to reinstall all my software now
