    righty ho,

so quick run-through of what's sat on the board at the minute:

    Athlon XP-M 2500+
MSI KT6 Delta Series Mobo (VIA KT600 Chipset)
    2x256MB PNY 1x512MB Corsair RAM (all PC3200)

    MediaMax Radeon 9600 Pro
    Maxtor 6Y120L0 (120GB IDE 0 Master)
    Maxtor 4K060H3 (60GB IDE 1 Master)
    Atapi Combo CDRW/DVD DC4801 (IDE 0 Slave)
    HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4120B (IDE 1 Slave)

Various other things like Wireless cards, an extra NIC, case fans etc.

    I've stuck a CPU-Z Dump on a website:
    http://www.trinity.ox.ac.uk/boatclub/cpuz.txt

I finally got hold of some thermal compound and it's running a lot cooler now (read, 10 degrees celsius less!). However, it still wont run at stock Athlon 2500+ speeds (166x11@ 1.60V). I tried upping the voltage a little more to 1.65 but that didn't improve anything. My old Athlon 2500+ used to run flawlessly at that speed, however now the monitor doesn't even wake up when i try booting!

Thanks for everyone's help so far, does anyone have any advice? I don't really want too much, just 3200+ speed would be nice (200x11.0 i think).

Oh and the MSI program Corecenter (links to a Core-Cell chip on the board) is still reporting that i'm running 374MHz x 5.0 multiplier, crazy thing.

    Thanks again!

I've had a quick hunt around and the following have presented themselves to me:

perhaps some mystical divider thing (which isn't anywhere in my BIOS "AMIBIOS 3.31a" i think) isn't setting itself correctly and my PCI/AGP bus speeds go all crazy which stops it from booting. I also read that apparently old ATi cards don't like it when they are bus-overclocked and hence that could be why i'm not seeing anything happen at all.

I do have a Leadtek GeForce FX5600XT knocking around which i could put in (which apparently can handle that sorta thing better?) and try, however i don't really want to damage anything else in the system by stressing it more than in can handle.

Does anyone know how to check the value of this divider thing and to force it to change (if i can't see it in the BIOS)?

Else i might have to get another motherboard, or just not bother

If you use the "standard" FSB settings of 166 & 200, then the PCI & AGP busses should automatically set themselves to 33 & 66 respectively.

it doesn't seem that they do i'm afraid. i tried 166x11 (standard athlon xp 2500+) and I got nothing. No post, monitor didn't wake up from stand-by, nothing.

i wonder if it's not setting the divider correctly?
