ye it sucks really, people who got the cheaper boards not only have higher FSB and higher overclocks but get more bios support as well... Next time I'll know![]()

My OCZ runs fine at 1050MHz (Gold XTC PC6400) as long as I knock the timing down by one.
At rated timings I can run it at 933MHz fine.

Right, so i have my E6600 and the other stuff in my spec (plus Freezer 7 pro) and i would maybe like to overclock to around the 3ghz mark.
Thing is i have no idea about overclocking, not the first clue. I don't really have time to learn as i'm going back to final year of uni next week so time will be spent on work. So I'm wondering how easy is it? Does anyone know a step by step guide to tell me EXACTLY how to oc my E6600 (maybe one of you with E6600 and P5B could walk me through it, if it isnt too hard), or do you really need to spend time reading about it before trying?
Cheers!
here you go mate http://forums.hexus.net/showpost.php...&postcount=103
I'm stuckThe BIOS i got from ASUS website was 0509, but i know you have the P5B deulxe right Clunk? There's a newer BIOS for that, but not for my regular P5B.
On the your pic you have changed the CPU Frequency from 260 to 370. I've changed all the other options but it doesn't allow me to change the CPU frequency, if i click on it no list appears. Also, you changed the DRAM Freq. to 740 (which i don't get really since my ram is 800) whereas mine doesn't have 740 listed.
One final thing, is it ok to be changing the "clocks" of the RAM to the same numbers as you put since it's different RAM to what you have?
Sorry if this stuff is obvious but i dunno
Cheers mate.
drop me a pm, we can sort summat out![]()
Just a note that the Geil 2GB PC6400 4-4-4-12 is on Overclockers.co.uk's This Week Only for about £180
Not as good as when they first offered it (when I paid around £130) but I gather this is a good price for it.

Kev, if you have your Geil ram at 890fsb and your using a p5W-DH can you tell me what divider you're using & also bios revision. Most of us can only run those timings if the cpu is kept under 350 mhz, otherwise you have to run the ram set at spd. Anything over 350 and the Asus throws a wobbly blows the ram out
i.e. On my system the cpu is at 2.9gh (7x420mhz) and the ram is at 420fsb 1:1 but spd has to be enabled which means timings of 5,6,6,18![]()
This is with bios 1101 which it seems happiest with. Also I have to say in my experience the best/most compatable memory for this board is Corsair XMS2 5400C4 as it has EPP which seems to help the board detect the correct spd settings & doesn't cause wierd overclocking issues with the ram divider.

If you work it out the way people on XS are working it out, im hitting 4.3, but if you work it out "normally", the highest ive hit is 3.7 1:1 and im sure my ram is the limiting factor there.
some info here.
