Question What to do with my 7800GT

    Hi guys

I built myself a new system earlier this year. I have an Asus A8N SLi - Premium Mobo and an XFX 7800 GT Extreme graphics card.

My intension was to buy a 2nd 7800gt (about now), when perhaps the prices had dropped a little and I had saved up a bit more )

What happened is that "they" stopped making the 7800gt.

So my question is what should I do now. I see my options as

    1) Buy a 2nd 7800 gt from ebay (they're going for ~£160)
    2) Sell my card on ebay, and then get something else. What ? 2x7800gtx, 2x7900gt, or 1x7950GX2.
    3) Try to run my 7800gt in SLi mode with another card (a 7800gtx or a 7900gt). Has anyone ever heard of this being made to work ? I know the official line is that it doesn't work.

    What would you do ?

I'd say sell it for as much as you can get then get one of these:

I'm sorry for your situation, but for me it highlights all the reasons why multi-GPU does not work - by the time you want to add a second card, it's no longer available.

By the way - the 7800gt is still a good card - why are you not happy with it?
I'm commenting on an internet forum. Your facts hold no sway over me.

i have a similar set up and what i did was to sell my 7800gt then got a 7900gt (it had the artifact issue!) so i rma'd it and got another 7900gt sold that then bought an x1900xtx and havnt looked back

i think if i were buying a gfx card now i would go for the 7950gx2 since it enables sli on any pci-e mobo ! (shuttle)

im now waiting on AMD's rd600 , sorry i meant ATI.

    I'm not unhappy with it.

But having gone to the effort of getting an sli mobo and a 600W psu, so that I could upgrade to sli, I would like to go through with my original plan.

A 4th option would be to wait a while longer, until more people upgrade their 7800gt's and there are more available on ebay (for less )

Don't forget that both compaines are going to be bringing out their DX10 GPU's soon enough, I wont be upgrading until I can get a DX10 card, already started saving now.
