Thanks for all the advice guys. Helped me hugely

I think the p5b deluxe WiFi is the one for me.

Bit a little side question about overclocking on this system. Will 24-7, always on computer be affected by overclocking. Of course, I will overclock only if its nice and stable. But do overclockers keep their PC's on, or on use them for a few hours a time??

My E6600 runs at 3 Ghz all the time at stock volts which is a mild overclock, but will go higher.

In my experience if you stay within reasonable temps and voltages the life of your cpu will not be significantly shortened even if you do run it 24/7.

My old cpu's were overclocked and worked until I sold them, not had one fail yet.

Nope, people only ever post on that forums really when they have a problem, so all you are seeing there is the tiny amount of people that do have a problem from the 100,000's of people that don't.

The Asus is a great board.

1.27V, Arctic Cooler Pro, 100% load with both cores on TAT, Orthos or similar is 58 - 62C

I could definitely improve on the temps, if I could be bothered, by reseating the CPU and probably using some better thermal paste but its quite happy and is
    within safe limits.

On the volts, I can actually undervolt the CPU and it is still stable but doesn't seem to make much difference to the temps. The CPU will go higher (have run at 3.3 Ghz witha few more volts) but don't need the performance so why bother? All my games run pretty much maxxed out at the resolutions I need anyway.

If you look at tomshardware, they recommend the ABIT AB9 Pro for overclocking a E6400. They took it past 3GHZ and the ABIT board was the only one that could do it.

Apparently the 975 don't clock as high as the 965's. I have a MSI 975 Platinum Power Up edition with an E6600 and I'm quite happy with it.

even though I'm a rabid abit fanboi I wouldn't recommend the abit AB9 over the P5B DeLuxe as an overclocker unless the £40 price difference was important (& then I would probably recommend a Gigayte S3) .
