I tend to prefer playing with people I know, which is why when we were doing it, I had more fun with the guys from the forums here. We haven't played anything for ages. We had quite a group at one point. Me, The_Animous, Andeh, Nibbler, GatKeeper to name but a few, I think Iron Sights joined in too
I'm not knocking CoD as a game that's full of kids, it has it's fair share of kids on the game, but thankfully the ratio of kids to adults on PC is nowhere near as bad as it is on the console versions. CoD games are very popular and attract players of all age groups, but for me it is one of the most fun games, if not it is the most fun game, I have installed on my PC. I'm no great player either, typically I tend to finish halfway up the table with an occasional appearance in the top 4 or 5 from time to time.

last poll I saw the average gamer age was mid - late 20's....
I started on COD4 PC and it was great fun if a little repetitive.
Now I an BF3 and it can be very hit and miss. Try and play with people you are skype / in game chat / voiping etc and the game becomes so much better. Still a good admin server and mortars being banned goes a long way too :-)
fps on consoles are just for young people to learn many and varied swear words and insulting phrases no more !

Gravity gun only matches ftw!
I've tended to avoid public games both PvP and COOP for the past few years because I have had bad experiences in both. Cheaters and flamers in PvP (having some the voice of some squeeky teen calling you a noob over voice coms) and disinctly un-cooperative cooperative (killing floor is the worst for the latter).
Generally I play with a few friends or I'll look for a decent group on steam.

Thank god for consoles. Without them all, the computer world would be filled with pre-adolescent children, I Am thankful for the repetitive Franchise that is cod to keep the simple minds entertained

Can tottally agree with what you're saying.
I find the bes way to play online nowadays you need to be in a decent clan with like minded people. Otherwise you just come across a load of spamming kids who think they're invincible with a keyboard in front of them.
eve online is good for older folks .. i'm 46 .. great to get on and chat not a fps but 40k people playing helps ..
or for somthing quick and easy world of tanks .. free ..
I agree. It's why I still have a lot of old school shooters installed even on my new PC (I originally dedicated an old Athlon rig for those games, but keep coming back to them more and more often). Quake III, Unreal tournament 1, Painkiller...take me back to the old school PC gaming days over the current day CODfest anytime.
Used to play a few MMO's just dont have the time anymore. Barely enought for any games.
This ^
BlackOps crouch and to a lesser extent MW3 Crouch is where I spend most of my online gaming hours. Decent games, skilled players, no morons, lots of fun.

I've still not got W@W though
I remember the good old days of HALO 1.
I somehow became part of the X1 clan, even though I never participated in any of their clanvsclan matches.I was always glad to encounter TC or TDC members in games and wipe the floor with them. I knew few people online who I enjoyed playing with. I didn't know them personally but they were players who played with honour and like-minded like me.
I also used to host games and a mate used to join me regularly.
There was no VOIP, so even if kids were playing, you didnt hear anyone. Communication was only via text. so, you had to type your messages and kids dont do that.
Good times, good times
I would rather have the StrongBow but don't let pc gamer kids who are actually annoying skill-ess teens put you off. Clans are the way forward unless your playing with hackers you just leave the match and somehow end up in the same match.
