Yesterday at a snowy Birmingham
It was getting damned noisey, I evidently must use only spot meter in such circumstances, rather than 'smart'.....
1/400 was OK, I think I was just using the in body and shake, because I was shaking, its just its 2kg. I mean I'm tonk enough for it I hope, it's just completely un praticed skill, maybe I should try in the mirror at home "you talkin' to me, SNAP" (please tell me you've all seen taxi). But I certainly need to pratice, if nothing more than to find which IS to use (off 1, 2 or body)....
So long as there aren't any talking snakes its all OK.

That photo gives me the willies.
When you get to the top its sheer for about 500m in front of you and on both sides. Too scary for me - I retreated away from the top a bit but meant that I didn't really get the shots I wanted.
One of the lads took this video with his iPhone which another mate has posted on Flickr

I was trying to work out why that frozen puddle looked so odd, then I realised it's a pond (lake? tarn?) some distance below the vantage point It looks a lot closer at first and messes up the perspective (at least, it does for my eyes!), then resolves back and I have to refocus! Must be due to the depth really darkening the water - it looks a lot darker than it has any right to!
Lovely shot though, very impressive.
Slightly off-topic, have you guys seen today's XKCD? I figure it might appeal to a group of photo-a-day types

I think you might be right. I'd kept it in as it showed you the incredible drop but its strange how it appears to be on its side. Not sure why its so dark - it was totally frozen over and I'm guessing the water is very black below. I was disappointed that the drop freaked me out as the best shots were right from the edge.
it reminds me of some of the sink holes in the Lake District - they're incredibly deep with very steep sides and when you get above them they look very similar - this amazing depth and darkness. Personally I quite like it, but I'm a bit odd It seems to pop out of the picture at you...
Stunning photo
(needs a plane though )
