*sigh* where's your spirit of investigation Nope, that much d.o.f. from f/2.8 suggests a smaller sensor than 4/3rds (or a crop, but I should have said they're not significantly cropped, if at all). It's a Sony RX100 - much bigger sensor than a compact, but smaller than a dslr.. so a bit of work to get d.o.f right at the moment.
ah but you didn't tell me the focal length, so how could I know the DoF (Actually you've got me wondering now using image forensics how you could work it out!)
You should start a thread with how you get on with it. It appears obvious to me that the traditional DSLR is really going to be dying a death over the next few years. Just look at how FF sensors are having the gap closed by APS-C. This isn't in any way a bad thing, as there will still be the interchangeable lens systems for pros, probably still with mirrors (I hope so!) but we will see some really amazing photos from ultra small compacts, moments which couldn't be captured before etc!
So I for one will definitely be interested with how you get on!

Was thinking of mentioning it, but that would have been much easier (10mm) - from the angle of view you could probably guess it's equivalent to the actual 28mm@35mm, and thus nail the 1" sensor size straight away.
Sure, will do once I've learned it's ways a bit more. You should start a thread with how you get on with it.
