Whilst I share your anger, the quickest and most bloodless way to get these men back is through diplomacy. Britain unfortunately does not have the power to do it any other way (apart from the nuclear "solution")
We can't do very much unfortunately. It makes my blood boil too but we have to face upto facts. The UK without allies simply cannot launch an independant attack unless on the smallest/poorest equiped and trained of countries.
I agree. But there are many ways to skin a cat.
I doubt that the Iranians would be silly enough to murder UK forces. This would be a "Gulf of Tonkin" equivilent and I doubt that the Iranian leadership would want this. A land assualt would achieve nothing and couldn't be mounted any way by UK forces. We are desperately overstretched atm (which the Iranian leadership knows).
Demonstrating against the war is in no way demonstrating against the troops fighting it.
I also hate the way that some small minded individuals think that a soldier has a choice in which battles he fights and demonises the individual soldier. A soldier does his job - end of.
The British people have traditionally supported their troops even if they do not think that the reason for their use is just.
That's a political issue it doesn't mean that they aren't behind "our boys" - sorry that's what the Sun would use but it sums it up.
This is very true. Without the courage of ordinary men then future generations would not have the freedom of speech. There is a quote which I can't remember in full atm but talks about violent men doing violent things so that others may sleep in their beds. I'll quote it when I can find it.
"Reality is what it is, not what you want it to be." Frank Zappa. ----------- "The invisible and the non-existent look very much alike." Huang Po.----------- "A drowsy line of wasted time bathes my open mind", - Ride.
Thats a very good quote tbh. There is a quote which I can't remember in full atm but talks about violent men doing violent things so that others may sleep in their beds. I'll quote it when I can find it.
For anyone thats in that position, i can honestly say it isnt fun!
But knowing that my family were safe 1000's of miles away made it worthwhile.
Also, i cannot agree that we couldnt do anything in the middle east without our 'allies'.
We may be a small country but our fighting forces are the best in the world (Gurkhas included as they are some seriously brave men), and we could certainly launch offensives in the middle east by ourselves.
On the other note, the marches were definitely wrong in my opinion and those that took part shouldve been treated like the Judas's they were.
ANyone that took part shouldve been shipped off to France with immediate effect to join the 'hide quick and not get involved' spineless brigade.
It makes me want to vomit that some European countries want to be in NATO but as soon as ANYTHING kicks off the turn and run.
Yeah, 'cause the danger from those weapon's of mass destruction.....phew, I know I was worried.
War isn't good. Sometimes necessary, but never good. The justification for going into Iraq was a load of balls, and even more worrying are the rumblings about oil being the main motivation.
Saying things about people protesting the war in Iraq being traitors is just daft. As has been pointed out, a large percentage of the british population was against the war, which includes the families of servicemen and women involved in the fighting.
As Iranu correctly pointed out 'Demonstrating against the war is in no way demonstrating against the troops fighting it'....I'd be very suprised if you could find many people in this country who have anything but respect and admiration for our troops. Doesn't mean we have to like what they're involved in.
I for one don't want war breaking out over Iran. It may well be inevitable, but one can only hope that wiser heads prevail and some satisfactory conclusion can be reached, with regards to the sailors, the development of nuclear weapons, and human rights.

Not forgetting the traitors in the Daily mirror on a false accusation, I wonder how many troops subsequently died or were injured because of them. I persuaded my mother not to buy it any more as a protest.
When you come to think of it, the enemy are chopping off prisoners heads don't observe any convention yet we can't laying a finger on our prisoners.....what a stupid way to run a war.

Claudette est dans le jardin de publique. Hoh he hoh he hon.
Yeah how exactly? I turned up and marched that day because I knew that all the stuff about Iraq being able to lauch weapons was a load of fantasy.
Was I wrong? Was I?
Yeah, well, whatever. I'd be happy to fight for my country for a just cause- but the justification for the Iraq war was a LIE.It borders on being a traitor.
If you think I want our troops in Iraq to fail then you're a ****wit. I want the leaders who were stupid enough to send them into a no-win situation to suffer the consequences of their stupidity.
Ifyou think that Im the kind of guy who'd spit on our returning soldiers a la the 60's Vietnam protests, then I suggest you read my posts and lay off the LSD.
Yeah fine. If you're that keen on the British government's plans for a great society, then turn up outside the SE London passport interrogation centre. I'll be there protesting; if you're that keen on New Labour then we can go toe to toe. I'm 5'11, balding, about 12 stone. Walk up and stick one on me if it means that much to you.Have you considered moving to France?
Its because people are prepared to fight for WHAT IS RIGHT that gives people with your opinions the opportunity to express them. Don't you EVER forget that!
