I watched a documentary called Jesus camp and to be honest, its shocking, really really shocking. I recommend you all see it so you can see what the next generation of evangelicals will be like. Apparently the place has been shut down now because of the controversy, no doubt they simply moved it elsewhere.

I thought it was freely available ( like Farenhight 9/11) when I downloaded it, its very easy to find with a quick google however I checked and it is not authorised for that, so you should go buy the DVD instead...

This is why religion is so dangerous. The indoctrination of children produces the next generation of indoctrinators. Those that have been brainwashed are so convinced that any reasoned argument is dismissed out of hand as it goes against their core being.

Religion is used as a tool of control. Most religions from the crack pot Aetherius Society, David Koresh and the Branch Davidians, the catholic church are all hierachies and use fear (or have used fear) to coerce and maintain allegience and control

Nobody should be exposed to religion until they are able to vote, ie an age where they have the freedom to think for themselves.

kasavien I have to say I think you have missed most of our points entirely. You're reasons for 'unbelief' only give weight to fuddum's argument and i'm sure through some means of spin will be able to give some wild explanation for it.

The notion of divinity is preposterous, the notion of religion is intrigueing from an historical and societal standpoint only.
To err is human. To really foul things up ... you need a computer.

I think this stooge is the funniest person who was ever born, don't you agree kids?
I don't understand why the fundamentalists focus on creationism exclusively, out of of all the scientific 'insights' the bible provides. For example, according to Kings 7:23 the value of pi is (exactly) 3, but I don't see those tools burning mathematics books or campaigning for 'both alternatives to be taught'. Clearly the best answer for everyone is for the fundamentalists to reject from their lifestyles all post-bronze age knowledge of pharmaceuticals, ballistics, engineering including of course computers printing and communications. Then we will see who natural selection/the Grace of Yahweh favours....

It's simultaneously the funniest and most horrific film of the year. What is really terrifying is that the filming and editing was all done with the support of the evangelists - it's not the case that things were taken out of context, they actually felt that the film depicted them in a fair and positive light. Anyway, funniest part for me was when the rabid maniac Ted Haggard squealed 'Fabuluous!' in the campest voice ever and still kept them all fooled.

Them obviously. They'd have a much harder time of blowing each other to pieces.

I wasn't aiming to make it look like my unbelief stemmed just from the personal reasons i stated. I maybe didn't make it clear enough that much of what i have learnt accademically over the past few years has made me see the holes in any religion. I did apolagise before my first post, to say that i aren't good at explaining things .

I mentioned the tsunami because i was and still am intrigued to hear what a christian (or person of other religion) has to say about what happened and the reasons for it happening.
