    HIPER HPU-4M880-PE problem

    Hi

Emailed scan directly about this, but guessing they are a bit behind on RMA queries and such, so posting on here for some help/advice.

Got a small fault with this PSU, in that when it is cold booted, the fan makes a slight noise (like a brushing sound), which goes away after a while. Was going to deal directly with Hiper about it, but have since found out they no longer exist. Its not a big problem right now, but as the fan is so quiet (after the initial noise), i probably wouldnt realise if it stopped turning altogether, possibly at some point after the warranty runs out next month with scan.

If i arranged for its return, and with Hiper out of business, what would the options be?.

    thanks
    joe

    Re: HIPER HPU-4M880-PE problem

Managed to speak to someone through the ticket system, and the upshot was that scan cannot do anything unless i rma the PSU, and indicating that if a fault is found, the entire unit would be replaced. Now weighing this up with the fact that it would cost me a fair bit to return it, and a fair bit to scan to replace with another unit, i suggested that they send me a £10 replacement fan (an in stock item), which i would have fitted here, after the warranty has run out next month - i would sooner have this minor problem fixed in a PSU that has proven itself a solid performer for the past year, than have another one, which would have less than a month to prove itself reliable in the remaining warranty period (less than a month). I guess i will have to replace the fan at my expense, which is a shame.
