    Problems with Motherboard

    Hi,

I think the DFi Lanparty LP MI P55-T36 that I have bought is faulty, no matter what I do I can't get the pci-e slot to run at x16. I am using a 1GB Sapphire HD 5770 Vapor-X.

GPU-Z, CPU-Z and ATI catalyst all show the same thing.

After multiple OS installs and cleaning of the PCI-E x16 slot with compressed air, the problem still persists.

I even went out and bought a 1 GB Gigabyte HD 5770, but it still had the same problem.

Also enabling Intel speedstep, turbo boost or eist in the BIOS makes my system freeze, I have to turn off the power supply and restart to get the system going again.

I've had all of these problems with the shipping (31/12/09) BIOS and still have them with the current (20/04/10) BIOS

I ran memtest86+ 4.00 for over 11 hours last night (16 passes) with no errors, so I am thinking it must be either a faulty mobo or cpu.

    other system specs

Case: SUGO SG05B with inc psu
    CPU: Intel i7 860
    RAM: Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) 1600MHz XMS3 DDR3 CMX4GX3M2A1600C9

    Some questions:

Can I send the mobo back for a replacement, if so will a courier be picking it up or will I have to pay for postage and packaging?

How long does it normally take for these problems to be sorted out?

Is cross shipping available if I provide you with a credit card or something? I am looking for minimal downtime as I'm at uni and need this machine to do work.

    Thanks

    Re: Problems with Motherboard

    Dayvo,

How long have you had the board? Had similar issues with a faulty board myself in the past, very frustrating. We should be able to look at this properly tomorrow - have you requested an RMA through the online query form? Please provide an in depth fault report on the query - the above is good enough to be pasted in.

Cross shipping isn't available on any item I'm afraid - we'd have to get the board back, test and verify the fault and then issue a replacement. If the board has to go to suppliers/manufacturers there may be a few weeks wait. Not an ideal situation but unfortunately this is one of the downfalls of building your own system (not trying to put you off!).

Not to worry though, get in touch with the returns team and I'm sure they'll ensure you get a speedy turnaround on this.

    All the best

How long have you had the board?
I received it from scan on the 15/04/2010

I've done some further testing using my friends system, here are his specs:

    Mobo: Zotac H55ITX-A-E
    Case: Silverstone SUGO SG05B
    CPU: Intel i3 540
    RAM: Corsair 4GB DDR3 CMV4GX3M2A1333C9
    HDD: 1TB SAMSUNG HD103SJ

These are the tests I preformed

    1. Switch his psu with mine = problems persisted
    2. Switch his ram with mine = problems persisted
    3. Switch his CPU with mine = my 5770 vapor x with my i7 860 and his ram worked fine in his board. The graphics card ran at x16. I Tried the same test with my RAM in his board and the system wouldn't boot up.

The i3 540 in my DFi Lanparty LP MI P55-T36 board with my RAM and the Gigabyte 5770 also didn't boot up. The system wouldn't power up at all, it would attempt to power up then 2 seconds later turn off. There was no post codes shown on the display, very unusual behaviour.

I took the mobo out of the case and inspected the pcb for any damage, everything looked fine.

I used his psu and he used my psu throughout all the tests.

After when we both put our systems back together they ran just as they did before. His ran perfectly, my pci-e slot still ran at x4. Also turbo boost, speedstep and eist still made the system freeze.

Apart from a random BSOD every now and then, my system runs okay. I'm thinking of sticking with the board until my uni term is over, because I really can't afford to be without a computer at the moment.

Would I still be able to send my board back for a replacement in 3-4 weeks?

Would an exchange with the Zotac H55ITX-A-E board be possible?

    Re: Problems with Motherboard

I got the e-mail from you guys on Saturday 08/05/10 1:04 PM about arranging collection, I replied at 2:56 PM saying that I wanted it to be collected on 10/05/10.

Didn't get the confirmation until 10:31 AM today, City link came at 12.30. The confirmation didn't give me enough time to get everything ready in time so I missed the collection :-(

I posted it myself today using royal mail special delivery, any chance of getting my postage refunded?

Also I had to leave my Corsair H50-1 bracket on the bottom of the motherboard. It felt like I would have broke something if I took it off myself. Could I have it shipped back to me along with the replacement board, or can I just buy a new bracket along with the sticky pads?

I bought the H50 in the same order as the DFi Lanparty LP MI P55-T36

    Thanks.

EDIT: Don't worry about the bracket, just bought a new one from the corsair store.

    Re: Problems with Motherboard

I'm having issues with this board again, my iPhone is only able to connect to iTunes <10% of the time. I keep getting a "0xE8000065 error", after some searching around I found this:

    http://www.engadget.com/2009/10/31/i...pset-to-blame/
    http://www.theregister.co.uk/2009/10..._p55_problems/

I think the P55 chipset on this board and my iPhone don't play nice. I've tried a 3GS and two iPhone 4's to no avail, the phones sync fine on other computers. Not being able to sync my iPhone is an major issue.

I've also had the problem of my usb bluetooth adapter only working some of the time, this plus all the reports of wireless USB adapters not working lead me to believe that there is something seriously wrong with the USB interface on this board.

From what I've read the only way of fixing this is through a BIOS update, which I don't see DFI ever doing.

Any chance of exchanging this for a different board, Gigabyte GA-H55N-USB3 maybe?
