    Loud bang from my desktop

Today while i was playing final fantasy 14, i heard an loud bang sound inside my custom built pc ( 3xs bundle, sound card, graphic card - from Scan) and felt something odd on my foot for a milisecond, which could possibly be a spark , im not sure.

My pc continued to work as normal as if nothing happened, temperatures were not higher than normal , 56 degrees on cores . Graphic card still works fine so far.

I opened the case and made sure all fans were operational and saw no sign of smoke

I would like to diagnose the issue and the cause to see if anything is damaged, or to prevent future damage. What do i do?

    Popped capacitor?
Just check the capacitors on the mobo, graphics card, PSU and check if you see anything leaking out of them. I would advise not to touch the stuff. Sometimes it has little effect on performance in the short term but it's usually the stuff that leaks out that can damage other components although I'm not sure. At least that's what happened to me on my mobo and my old monitor.

Re: Loud bang from my desktop

Just something I found out :

Hot CPU Tester 4 detects that I have 4,194,303 KB of total physical memory, whereas I have 6gb. Both DXdiag and windows system properties detect 6 gb as it should be

Is it possible that one ram slot stopped working? If so , how can i find out

    Thanks

reading the readme for Hot CPU tester 4, it says

    What's New in This Release:

    · Improved support for Windows Vista
Improved support for the newer Intel processrs:
    · Intel Xeon (Codename: Penryn)
    · Intel Core 2 Extreme (Codename: Yorkfield)
    · Intel Core 2 Quad (Codename: Yorkfield)
    · Intel Core 2 Duo (Codename: Wolfdale)
Improved support for the following AMD processrs:
    · Atlon 64 X2(Codename: Windsor)
    · Atlon 64 FX (Codename: Windsor)
    · Atlon 64 (Codename: Orleans)
    · Sempron (Codename: Manila)
    · Improved Hard Disk module test to detect SATA controller problems faster now
    · Fixed a bug that caused memory burn-in to crash
    · Due to 32bit limitations amount of memory to be tested is set below 4GB only
    · Small cosmetic changes
important bit has been highlighted. by what the readme says, it cant read the total amount of ram, if you have more than 4gb in the system.

edit: just downloaded and tried the program on mine (where i know i have 8gb fully working) and it says total 4gb ram, so i would uninstall Hot CPU 4 and use an alternative program.

    try Cpu-Z instead.

(2nd edit: apologies to SCAN staff, just noticed its in the aftersales section, where its only the OP and scan staff allowed to post,)

Re: Loud bang from my desktop

    ff14 open beta is out.

    Another issue /possibility ?

    http://yfrog.com/16gfxnp

Until last time i checked (last week), the memory speeds would be shown in this interface. It is not visible and slightly messy now, even after restart

Is it possible something has gone wrong with the graphic card?

Here is the GPU-Z file :

    http://yfrog.com/7ggfx2cp

Notice the memory clock is 1000 Mhz , on the scan website and the gfx box it is said to be 4000 MhZ

Could it be that the bang was related to the memory clock of my graphic card, and this is why the gainward performance ( self overclocking tool) seems to be bugged?

edit: gainward performance used to look like this:
