    Question about returning an item

I just bought the MSI GTX460 HAWK from Scan. The card works, and would pass tests if RMA'd

However I'm unhappy with the level of noise it produces when stress tested (Furmark / Kombustor). I've raised the issue on MSI's site, and I've phoned your technical support (Mick) who was understanding, but ultimately not able to offer a solution.

I believe the card is revving up way beyond what it should be doing, having compared to others results around the web.

My question is, would Scan offer a refund and for me to "upgrade" the cost difference to get an 6870, or some other card of my choosing?

I believe if I'm honest that DSR doesn't really cover me in this situation, so I'm looking for some good will on Scan's part, from someone who has spent 1000's with you over many years.

Can someone PM me and let me know where I stand, because currently I'm not in a happy place having forked out over the odds to "ensure" a decent cooler with low noise.

Well if all doesn't go to plan, give me a PM and I can help you set up a Rivatuner profile which will make the fan rev up to levels you find more appropriate..

I've done it on my GTX275 and it's now one hell of a beast at overclocking and much cooler and quieter too .

May have been overlooked as you put it in the system section, instead of component after sales

Re: Question about returning an item

Hi David, yeah I realised, I reported the post myself asking a mod to move it, but no success yet.

I *think* I'm likely to keep the card and just accept it runs a little hotter and set a manual fan speed profile. I would just like to know if Scan would honour a return and alternative product should I prefer to do that. Everything is in pristine condition. I've only removed the card from the box and installed everything else is untouched.

If all else fails try using rivatuner or MSI afterburner to modify the speed the fan goes.

Re: Question about returning an item

Well it's been 48 hours now, a mod hasn't moved it as requested, and even though DavidM has seen the thread, no comment has been made regarding my initial query....let's see how long it takes to get my question answered I'm not going to constantly remind you, you should be checking these forums regularly and responding.

To give you a chance, since it's not been moved I'll re-create the original post in the correct forum since no mod has done so on my request.
