    RMA with SCAN

    Hi,

As you can see I'm new to the forum. I've always use to order stuff from overclockers but i subscribe to custom pc and i thought ill give the best retailer a shot. Love the web site, easy to navigate, there was some delay with the order but from what i can see it was the courier company and Christmas period. Anyway I've ordered a Sony sata dvd writer and a samsung spinpoint f3 1TB. DVD writer works like a dream, burns reads everything, after putting the HDD in BIOS could not find it, so i updated my mobos BIOS, try different cables/ports etc with no luck. I've re-opened the case and just after i hit the power button there is about 4-6 clicking sounds coming from HDD (still not recognise in BIOS) and then it just stops spinning. Anyone has any ideas what this can be ? I thought RMA, i found this forum and a lot of threads from people that had problems with RMA's and scan. I cant say anything bad as of yet, great communication from them, I've posted a msg to them around midnight and next day 9-10 there was few replays of what's going to happened next. I've just checked my email today and already received instructions that courier will be coming to pick it up. Dose anyone know if i have to enclose anything with the item, like invoice or something ?

may be a broken head. sounds like a bad drive. To be honest, best is to raise an RMA, you should have another before the end of the week.

    Is it on Windows 7?

It may be the hard drive spinning up if it's been put to sleep, or it could be a faulty drive, try playing a very large file on it (bigger the better, like a 1080p movie, Big Buck Bunny uncompressed for instance) and see if it makes it then

    Re: RMA with SCAN

Just checked status of my RMA and it states Awaiting Replacement/Credit. It has been tested faulty. I cant really see why people are so dissatisfied with service recived from Scan, as so far i have to say
everything well really well for me. Hopefully i have found a new retailer to use. Will keep posting updates as whats happening.
