Faulty VGA port on Acer screen...

As you know my partner and i built a new PC using parts from Scan a few weeks ago... We've already returned an NZXT Vulcan case due to a couple of faults (one of which stopped me from inserting a standard sized ATX PSU!). Now i've discovered a problem with the VGA input on our Acer AT2326 screen (Scan code: LN34814).

The whole problem has been discussed here: http://forums.hexus.net/help-technic...-problems.html

Basically, The screen goes blue, the top part is chopped off, it's always trying to auto-adjust and the picture quality is poor. All this only happens when using the VGA port (i've been using HDMI ports so far and was not aware of the VGA port problem until today - i first thought i had a duff cable a few days ago when i first tried it). I've tested it using a laptop and two PC's with the same results and different native VGA and DVI-I to VGA cables, so It's obviously a fault with the monitor/TV itself.

I cannot be without a screen for my PC so i'll have to drive to your store sometime this week so your tech guy can take a look... I don't want a refund, i would like a hassle free replacement please . I was going to give this screen to my brother (i'm purchasing a Iiyama screen for myself from Scan) but it doesn't work with his PC via the VGA port either

Re: Faulty VGA port on Acer screen...

I've had no reply to this post yet ... Is it ok for me to come into the store and do a straight swap for the same monitor (after your tech guys have tested it)?

I also have a problem with the Corsair CX600 PSU i bought the same time as the screen... It's making a horrible squealing/whining noise, so i would also need a replacement PSU (i spoke to a Corsair rep here: http://forums.hexus.net/cases-psus/2...ml#post2068081). I'll need same day replacements as it's not viable for me to be without a computer.

    Cheers

Re: Faulty VGA port on Acer screen...

The website listing for the monitor shows the warranty procedure, outside of 5 days from purchase, the monitor is subject to repair, this can be organised by calling the warranty number listed with the product.

Only 5 days is a bit of a joke! It's meant to last longer than 5 days without the need for repair... I didn't even notice it had a faulty VGA port until recently as i've been using the HDMI ports (otherwise i would have taken it back the same day i received it!). I would prefer to replace it with another NEW screen as i personally don't trust store repair jobs anymore after a couple of bad experiences (and why should i settle for less when it's only a month old?).

What about the PSU? can i come to the store and get that replaced without having to mess around with refunds or wait weeks for a replacement? If not then i'll have to get a refund on both items and purchase replacements elsewhere as i can't be without a working computer!

It is not a store repair it is handled by the manufacturer directly, if you can advise the EXACT purchase date I can go off facts as to what we can do, but just stating a few weeks is to vauge to be for certain what the procedure will be, feel free to re-post in the after care section, that way you can include your original invoice number that will be hidden to everyone except the Scan Mods.

Ok i've checked the receipts and it's a bit been longer than i thought. The items were ordered on the 26th of Feb and delivered on the 2nd of March... I've had them for over a month.

What can be done about replacements or refunds if i go directly to your store?

    Thanks

Ok, you will need to call the number for the monitor and arrange a repair, this cannot be exchanged. PSU stock dependant can be exchanged in store.

    Faulty monitor and PSU...

Ok i've explained everything in this thread: http://forums.hexus.net/scan-care-he...ml#post2068141 and would like to know if i can return these items and get a replacement, or a full refund (if i have to).. I'll be driving to the store so your tech guys can test them out in front of me (probably be Friday).

The order is in my partners name (Danielle Marriott) as she doesn't have a Hexus account (thats why i'm posting here). We really can't be without a working computer so would prefer replacements.

    Thanks

Can the monitor be refunded instead then? If not then i'll use Acer's 'collect and return' warranty and will have to purchase another monitor to use (i was going to buy another one anyway and give the Acer to my brother).

I'll most likely be at the store on Friday to exchange the PSU.

    Thanks.

No we cannot issue a refund once outside of the first month, PSU exchange will be fine stock allowing.

Ok, i understand. If the PSU is out of stock, would i be able to change it for another model (and pay the difference)?

Re: Faulty VGA port on Acer screen...

Ok, my brothers Corsair CX600 arrived this morning (from a different store).... And it's making the same noise on a different PC! I'm guessing the CX600 is a new line and maybe there's a bad batch or the quality testing over at Corsair has gone a bit downhill? Anyway i'm not sure i want the same PSU again (would be a wasted journey and a waste of petrol if i get home and the replacement still 'squeals')... I would rather get a slightly more expensive/better quality PSU and pay the difference if thats ok?

I'll be at the Scan store sometime tomorrow so my faulty PSU can be tested and then we can see what can be done. Cheers

Over 28 days, it is a like for like replacement only, however, under the circumstances and as a gesture of goodwill I will allow you to upgrade, paying the difference to a different PSU. Just bring a printout of this post.

Ok, thanks very much! I wouldn't want to get stuck in an infinite loop of returning and exchanging Corsair CX600 PSU's if they all happen to make this noise (maybe some buyers have not noticed the noise or got lucky with a silent one?).

    Thanks again.

Re: Faulty VGA port on Acer screen...

Bought a replacement PSU today from Scan (and got refunded via cheque for the faulty Corsair PSU)... So far so good with no noise at all. I chose the Cooler Master 'Silent Gold Pro 600W Modular' PSU as it had plenty of positive reviews, i could tell straight away that this unit is better quality than the Corsair CX600.

    Thanks again guys

Re: Faulty VGA port on Acer screen...

It seems the VGA port is not the only fault with this Acer TV/Monitor! I recieved my new 24" Iiyama screen today and decided to let my brother have the Acer one (he's not bothered about the dodgy VGA port)... We set it all up and found out the scart socket doesn't work and just displays a blank blue screen with everything we tried. This TV also boasts built-in freeview but unfortunately it's unable to detect any channel! My other TV's and my brothers TV all work fine with freeview except this Acer one. I'm guessing it has a faulty RF port too, infact i'm guessing the whole analogue circuit is fried as only the HDMI and component ports actually work!!

Anyway i think the best thing to do is get Acer to sort this out as they can collect and return it. Hopefully i get a new screen and not some dodgy repair job (My LG TV once got returned to me covered in scratches with loose screws).
