City Link yet again (I know, I know...)

I'm basically at the end of my patience with City Link. I've got 3 (2 from Scan) parcels sat somewhere either in a depot or a van - 1 was supposed to arrive Tuesday, 1 was supposed to arrive yesterday, and the other is supposed to arrive today... so far none of them have turned up. The first two have had "unsuccessful delivery" attempts, which is complete bull as I took Tuesday and Wednesday off of work for the deliveries and sat around all day waiting. The 1st one in particular frustrates me, how they've got the nerve to make up fake delivery attempts two days running is beyond me. I'm pretty much resigned to the fact that nothing's going to arrive today either. I phoned up City Link head office this morning, the chap got onto the Gatwick branch, phoned me back and said they will "try their best" to deliver all 3 to me today - the answer I was looking for is that they will be delivered today... I told him that, he said he couldn't promise anything.

I can't be at home tomorrow or Monday, and I can't find anyone who could come and "house-sit". I shouldn't have to feckin do this, the parcels should have arrived the day I choose and took off work.

Scan, for the love of god, please provide the option to choose a different courier (which I'd more than happily pay for). Not only are they causing massive headaches for your customers, they're more than likely ripping you off for charging for a service they often don't meet. Their way out of it? To lie and say they did attempt delivery. It's a joke.

End of yet another City Link rant.

Right, the latest order (the one that was supposed to arrive today) has just arrived. The driver said he had the other two parcels on has van the last two days but he didn't have time to do them, and for some reason they're not on his van today. He phoned his depot to find that they're not on any van today, rather they're just sat there at the depot. Words fail me to be honest. I told the driver to tell the depot to just leave them alone, and I'll pick them up from the depot on a detour to work tomorrow.

I actually feel a bit sorry for the driver and don't really blame him, he said he's new and didn't know the route very well yet, and 4 of his fellow local drivers are all off on holiday at the same time. I could tell he was pretty much bricking it having to tell me what had happened to the other two parcels.

My main beef is with the shambolic way that company is run, especially when it's concerning hundreds if not thousands of pounds worth of equipment.

Get about 3-4 packages a week from city-link not a single problem with them yet. I guess it's like Cozwin said, a lot of it will be down to the driver.

Living and dying laughing and crying
Once you have seen it you will never be the same
Life in the fast lane is just how it seems
Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean

Yep it's down to all sorts of things, one of the main "excuses" I hear is that City Link is a franchise, so one depot can be run completely different to the other. That's not an excuse, that's a problem, and a serious one at that.

The Scan experience is from browsing to their website to receiving the goods at your door. At the moment, for me anyway, the Scan experience is brilliant right up until the very last stage, and that very last stage is ruining my Scan experience.

n.b. this isn't any form of veiled attack or threat to Scan, I'm really just trying to say how I feel.

as i said before its all about the driver ive had no problems with city link and most of the time you wont but there are some drivers who really hate there job etc you know the ones that beat everything up etc, so basicly there isnt much you can do but complain about them, but in your case it seems to be just somone didnt put on the van which can happen.

    The Bristol lot stink too!

    Uesless feckers

Collecting from the depot is a joke. 1 person left to deal with usually between 2 and 6 people. Said 1 person takes 1 card at a time and disappears for 10mins.

Avoid picking up on a Saturday as its even worse.

It's unfortunate, but all carrier companies have similar horror stories.

Only people you can trust is the Royal Mail Special Delivery, maybe Scan can look into offering that for lighter orders (up to 10KG)

Other than JimNastics original complaint, this has all been discussed in the many similar threads. How about letting the Scan guys deal with any problems Jim still has, instead of filling this forum with "me too" posts?

Not really, it gets there, on time, undamaged, often before 9am, carrying a £1000 insurance

It's worth the extra cost sometimes.

Had a problem with City Link aswell. Usual piss poor excuse of "Oh i'm only the relief driver" Told him he should tell it to someone who doesn't know about delivery drivers as i use to be one.
And he made me carry the parcels from the van to the door!

Admittedly it was correct day but late, but thats not the point. City Link are, lets be fair, ****e.

They are bad, really bad; I now refuse to buy any thing form anyone that uses them e-buyer, overclockers etc... Scan is the only company that I use that also use City Link; I stopped using them for two years because of City Link.....
