    Enermax Revolution

Has anyone compared the Enermax Revolution series to either the Antec Signature or the Corsair 850 or 1000 watters?
I'm interested in noise levels, I've read reviews about stability etc but someone who has had both could tell me how they fair?

    Re: Enermax Revolution

My enermax Revolution 1050W beast just turned up today via Citylink from Scan after having ordered it lunchtime yesterday.
Thanks Scan for a top service, it had been 6-years since I had ordered from you and in this instance, even though you were the most expensive supplier, you were the only one (other than the UK distributor) who had stock in the UK!
Thumbs up to scan for getting the latest top gear in before anyone else in the UK!

My only problem after opening the box and inspecting it the power lead doesn't come with a standard UK 3-pin plug! Only the 2-pin continental type
Isn't that breaking some sort of EU regulation or law?
I vaguely remember reading /hearing that all electrical devices sold in this country must have a UK plug? Or is that cobblers?

Right then Sammie to try and answer your question. There are only a few reviews out there at present as it is so new. There is a good one on you tube from Rodney Renoyds (sp?) 3Dgamerman.com. The Enermax PSU is now the one he uses in his own pc and in the video review you can at least hear the PSU switched on to gauge noise levels:

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=namKe...eature=related

You may also compare to his similar reviews of an Antec/Corsair PSU's if he also shows you the noise levels on those? Bit crude I know but it gives you some idea at least.

Here is a list of the various reviews/tests of the Enermax Revolution I am aware of at present:

    http://www.driverheaven.net/reviews.php?reviewid=712
    http://www.***********.net/reviews.p...psu_round-up/5
    http://www.anandtech.com/casecooling...spx?i=3452&p=1
    http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/articl...ZW50aHVzaWFzdA

Generally in my experience the most efficient PSU's turn the least about of juice into heat and therefore require less cooling (less rpm on the fan etc) and that means they tend to be the quietest.
As the Enermax Revolution is reputed and tested to be the most efficient PSU's for a desktop pc I think it would be safe to say it would be quieter as well, but we are talking small margins here. Another thing the Enermax boasts is that it has a new design of inlet for the air to past down into the grill and fan which is also supposed to reduce air turbulence and noise.

A final thing the Enermax has over the Corsair is its physical length is less (190 x 150 x 86mm as opposed to 200 x 150 x 86mm), meaning it will fit for more people in a greater variety of cases. I have a Thermaltake Spedo (awful name!) so it wasn't a problem for me as that is a full-tower case, but for some just having the smaller size of PSU will be a big deciding factor.

For me though the deciding factor was efficiency and reliability. l contemplated the Corsair 1000W which was around £40-£50 less and far more widely available, but I believe the Enermax is more efficient, quieter, smaller, has better future proofing for new and emerging technologies. Enermax has always been a very reliable PSU brand for me in the past and of course they actually make and design their own product whereas I think Corsair hire another company's design. I suppose I should just also say that I have nothing against Corsair as I been buying their memory since the original DDR memory came out. I also have little experience with Antec PSU's.
    Cheers

EDIT: I called Scan's technical department and they are looking into my Enermax Revolution PSU being supplied with a Continental 2-pin plug.
Perhaps in Germany (Where Enermax's European headquarters is as their UK office closed) they forgot to include a UK 3-pin plug when sending them to C&J Computers (Who are Enermax's UK distributor).
I would not like to have to have to use my 5-year old Enermax 650W PSU mains lead, just in case of the 3-year warranty etc.

    Re: Enermax Revolution

Could you please chase this up again Mark on Monday.
I telephoned the technical service dept. of Scan today and was told you were on your lunch and would get back to me today via email of telephone, but no update was forthcoming.
    Cheers

    Hi,

Further to our conversation I have posted the correct UK power cable today to your shipping address. It would seem that all existing stock has the correct UK power cable supplied as a member of the warehouse team has checked this for me.
