Re: Do Scan actually test RMA's ?

Well apart from my £50 usb memory stick that failed 2 weeks after warranty ( don't go there lol ) I have found their RMA process fair and they kept me informed around the clock. They replaced an expensive motherboard within 2 weeks and I had to pay for an ABIT board which they tested and found no fault on but returned quickly. ( must have been the memory stick or Bios stuck honestly I'm an Analyst lol)

OK i think the point has been missed here.

The board works. Thats the main thing. All i want to know is if the board develops a fault later on down the line have scan basically said they wont touch it anymore or will they accept it ?

Clearly scan never tested it. I probably cant sell it as clearly if anything ever goes wrong with the board scan won't accept it.

I'm going to refund the buyer and cover £10 towards his cost of sending the board to scan, but all in all its been a bit of a nightmare.

Its the first time something like this has happend with scan, guess it was bound to happen sooner or later.

What I want to know is, if I sell the board on, will Scan honor the warranty ?

I know that, bottom line, pins weren't 100% but its not like they were flattend or snapped off. I'm pretty sure even without my "tweaking" the board would've booted

    Hi,

Having checked the details of the RMA fully I can confirm that unfortunately we would not accept any further warranty claims for the return of this motherboard.

With regards to the comments made above about SCAN not testing the item this is correct. Whenever items are returned they are visually inspected before testing and in this case there was damage to the board in the form of bent pins.

For this reason the board was rejected and pictures of the motherboard's CPU socket were taken which show why the item has been rejected.

Had we continued to test the returned goods despite the damage this could have caused further damage to our test components and made us liable for any damage on the motherboard.

Any modification to the board by a unauthorized repair technician leaves us with no alternative other than to reject any further warranty claims.

Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

    Regards
