    Delivery Options

I know this has been mentiioned in quite a few posts but I couldn't see a response from any one at SCAN.
Have / can you guys consider using Royal Mail for the small items? It just seems a pain having to go to your competitors for orders less than £20. I dont even mind paying delivery for them but when you want to order a cable and its £3, delivery is over £6
A single sale might not be a lot but am sure cumulatively you probably have lost out quite a bit of money here.
    So how about it??

    Re: Delivery Options

Chris P the retail manager has gone over this many times, i have quoted one of his reponses below, however a quick advance search will bring up a few other post with reference to this,

The issues with Royal mail are deliveries are not properly tracked; this causes issues when trying to track an order and find out exactly where it is. Because of this issues are created with lost/delayed deliveries and as getting a confirmed POD is time consuming and not always easy to receive meaning these issues cannot be effectively resolved.

Citylink have an exceptionally and consistently high success rate for our deliveries and problems are very rare. In recognition of this, we have great deal of faith in their ability to ensure our customers orders arrive on time and in excellent condition. Over the past few years our despatch systems have become more and more integrated with theirs, which now means that the whole process from the point of ordering to the point of delivery is streamlined and informative.

The carriage charge may cost a few pounds more; however you are assured of a fast hastle free delivery. Isolated problems here and there are an unavoidable consequence for any company dealing with such high volumes of deliveries as we do. By having such accurate and detailed information available to base any investigations on, we are able to quickly and effectively resolve any queries.
    Many Thanks

    Re: Delivery Options

Have to admit I agree with Stanman. Having just spent well over £1200 on components for my first build at Scan I realised that I needed an additional 120mm fan. I found the Enermax fan I was after on Scan (awesome range of stock btw) but then noticed for a £11 fan was going to cost me £18 once delivery was added. A 63% delivery charge just made the purchase uneconomic and although it was my fault for not ordering it as part of my earlier order it surely means that a large number of people (such as myself) end up being pushed to purchase elsewhere. I'm not aware of anywhere that has a single small item postage charge as high as you guys.

    Re: Delivery Options

I’ve had this problem too and I can see the customers point of view, but since mostly when this happens to me I end up buying more stuff to make the shipping cost less significant or once over a certain level free.

I can imagine that Scan realise this policy probably makes people buy more stuff from them in the long term rather than less.

    Re: Delivery Options

I can assure you it's not a marketing ploy to get you to spend more,

we have on few occasions in the past used Royal mail to send customers their goods, however on most of the "occasions" there were problems from non delivery, Damaged items and very poor tracking system,

from our point of view, if this happens on the very few occasion that we DID use RM there was no way we can trust the items to get to there destinations on a regular basis,

i know exactly where you guys are coming from but unfortunatley i cannot see this changing any time soon.

    Many Thanks
