    Re: Using a different carrier?

Wait, you mean I don't have to sit at home for 9 hours waiting for parcels any more?

Last time City Link came I was in such a rush to get to the door before they left with my package that I headbutted the top of the door frame at the bottom of my stairs, then nearly collapsed on the driver.

    Re: Using a different carrier?

Used DPD a few times with other companies. They are normally top notch. Good move Scan.

City link were ok around here, but DPD's delivery estimate is very useful and appreciated

I find it interesting that for years you have been defending CityLink, and now all of a sudden, you change to DPD citing better service levels and delivery options. Looks like CityLink weren't so good after all.

    Funkstar

For years we have always believed in the service provided by City Link, since City Link's head office bought out all of the franchises the service hasn't been as good, however it's only in the last 4 weeks we have noticed substantial service level issues and made the decision to change courier to DPD.

The integration of DPD into our systems has been substantial but quickly performed, once we decided it was necessary.

Chris, wasn't the buy back of franchises supposed to improve their service?

I hope it all works out for the better anyway

    Re: Using a different carrier?

Delivery Window 1237 - 1337, came at 1306. Good stuff. Even if they don't come in the exact window they'll come pretty close to it. Far better service than City Link who give you a 10hr window - I don't care when it comes in the day (hence the reluctance to pay to a "delivery slot", as long as in the morning when they put it on the van I have an idea of the ETA.

So I reckon Scan have done the right thing changing carrier. Has their been any additional cost to Scan with the change in carrier?

    Re: Using a different carrier?

Does this affect all of the UK? If so, Scan are likely to see far more of my business again, as I can actually order stuff and have it delivered to me!
Does the free shipping offer use the '1 hour timeslot' service DPD provide? That's the icing on the cake for it really, as CCL offer it.

    Re: Using a different carrier?

    sammorris

We use DPD for all of our dispatched parts and as always order's with free shipping are processed in the same way as order's charged with carriage, so yes you will still receive the 1hr time slot txt as long as you have a mobile number entered on your account .

Not to forget the SCAN notification's are also sent as txt's.

Something else that's new .... Order's placed on a Saturday are now delivered on Monday ( Except Bank holiday Monday's ).

    Re: Using a different carrier?

Excellent stuff. Last thing, a more unusual scenario, does free delivery apply automatically if you select a date other than 'next day'? With CCL you are not able to select any date but the next working day for delivery if you're using free, you have to call/email them and get them to change it manually if you want to do this.

Oh also, do Scan use DPD for returns as well, or just deliveries?

We also use DPD for Returns as well...

We do allow a requested delivery day to be selected other than next day and free carriage still apply's automatically.

    Re: Using a different carrier?

The only time that free carriage doesn't apply to mainland UK orders - are with special timed services (such as pre-12) or Saturday deliveries.

    Re: Using a different carrier?

My first scan order delivered by DPD has just turned up, the one hour delivery time slot is a great idea, and online tracking. My wife is at home and was staying in for the delivery, so being able to give her an idea of time is excellent.
