From what i have read over on the house of help site, there where a fair few people who where less than happy with their 6400.
There is a shortage problem with the micron D9's as we know and this lead to the fitting of PROMOS ic's which to be fair are not perfoming anywhere near how well the microns are.
Now i know that if they run at rated then thats all they have to do, but when this becomes an issue is when reviews are done on 6400 micron, then there is an IC change - people see these reviews and buy on the premise that they will be getting a similar perfomance.
This is in no way corsairs fault, micron have the issue with supply / demand.
So you can bet your bottom dollar that the top crucial stuff is running on some sweet micron still.
If you are wanting some overclocking loving from corsair you will have to go over to the 8500 or the rather pricey 6400 C3.
If you are interested heres a link from yellow beard on the corsair help.

This will give you an idea as what is under your heatspreaders.

just thought i'd also own up as too having just bought a load of computer stuff from scan...

but i bought the ram at overclockers instead simply because scan didnt stock the stuff i wanted. (crucial 10th anniversary 2gb set in this case).

Im aware that corsair has a well regarded brand name for service and good products... But then so does a company like crucial ( they did a 3 day turn around rma for me, which is frankly the best rma ive ever gone though...).

I Also understand that getting stock in from lots of different makes doesnt make that much sense fiscaly... But stocking say one other enthusiast brand be it ocz, crucial or whatever would give us customers that much more choice...

And as far as getting a bit of a discount because of only stocking corsair , i personally wouldnt mind paying a bit more if only not to have to go through the rigmarole of multiple deliveries.

^^ I too don't want to go through lots of different companies, and on top of that pay a delivery charge (one of the many perks by shopping at SCAN ) Just makes RMA (if need be) more complex as you have to know the relevant companies policy on it.

This is one of the reasons we concentrate on Corsair, we stock a range for the Value customer and the extreme Dominator for the performance overclocker. There is demand for other brand but the level of demand does not warrant stocking alternative brands at the moment.
Could we do a poll then, so you lovely guys at SCAN could put it down in your books as a firm and definite no no?
I've heard great things about Corsair, but have recently looked at some Geil memory and thought that would be just that tiny bit more worth. I was talking to exceededgoku
I really cba making an account with OCUK + I dont like them.

Well as far as ddr2 goes they do stock some Anuson, Elixir and Samsung but it's hardly earth shattering is it?

I make a point not to buy memory from Scan due to the fact that they're clearly biased towards Corsair. Choice is good. I will shop elsewhere when it looks like there's any kind of market manipulation going on.

Still happy to use Scan for just about everything else though.

Your comments are fair and honest, and I appreciate the feedback.

I speak with upper management about these issues quite frequently, so I'll be sure to keep you guys plugged in (either myself or Yellowbeard) and turned on to what is going on.

i love the corsair psu's dont get me wrong, i also love the corsair ram as ive used it in many many many pc builds ive done over the years, but in my own computer i use g.skill, dont ask me why. If i buy corsair ( which i do all the time for customer/family pc builds ) i buy from scan no question about it, if i need ram for my personal builds/friends i use overclockers, simply because they stock a wider range of ram.

    2 pence worth ^^

p.s. never had a problem with corsair or my g.skill...

all this maybe because i live 15 mins from scan and can buy/return over the counter..

I only live around the corner from Scan and usually buy everything from here, except ram.

I have some online friends who I have helped when it came to speccing up new Pc's and I have always pointed in scans direction due to their price and service, unfotunatlythey all ended up buying everything from Overclockers (spit!) because they sold the Ram and they could get everything from one shop. If thats just a few people i know then it must happen a lot meaning a lot of lost sales.

Only £72 with much better timings at 4-4-4-12. Its a pain having to order your components from two different places.
Anyway pointless post because nothings going to change.

It amazes me how they get best retailer yet there is many other companies who provide better support, after sales service, telephone orders etc etc and that do stock a better range of products, instead of limiting themselves to corsair.

i do believe they have reason for limiting to corsair but if im honest if they go on reliability i think crucial will definetly top corsair lol seems as they actually make the chips everyone uses lol.

Their prices are good though. As far as I am concerned Corsair is expensive compared to the other brands like Crucial and G skill which are better. I can't really complain much though. ChrisP ordered the Samsung 245b after my whining so scan DO listen to customers. I think ill just get the ram from Dabs or ocuk.
