Hello, newbe here.
I know this is an old subject but I thought I should add about my recent development about play.com. I have also used play.com over the years with no problems until recently, well with play trade. Basically, a seller is on there offer HD dvd and normal dvd at good prices (which is nothing new). But what happens is this;
1) Buy from play trade for the price shown, e.g £7.25
2) They advertise that you get free derlivery and will be dispatched from the UK,
3) The item arrives four days later,
4) The item has infact been sent from HMV at the cost of £2.99 from Gurensey.
Result from play.com, "Nothing can really be done about it". Ok, the price difference is fortuntly not big but for every customer that get's conned by that amount, well it add's up.
Any way, I though It would be best to chat with our friends at "Trading Standards".
According to the law, this is acutally ok to do. So I confirmed with trading standards by telling them this,
1) I can advertise an item for sale on the website, e.g. a dvd player for say around £70,
2) Buyer will buy at that price and I send it,
3) However, the item is from ebay at the price of £20!
Even if the item has a reciept from ebay, there is nothing that buyer can do about it! Very shocking but these things happen. He said, there is nothing wrong as there is no law to prevent this.
WOW
, nows that's a way to earn profit but let me be honest, this is very upsetting to know that a company like play.com would allow this.
At the end of the day, I do not believe I would trust play trade again.
By the way, this website forum is very good, the information on here has helped me understand more about things.
