Yeah, WnW+ as i needed it as a modem too. It was supposed to be £100 for the handset, but when he rang it through the till, it came up as £60. So that might have been a glitch

1GB a month is actually a hige amount. on normal WnW you arenæt supposed to use it with a laptop, so that is 1GB *in your phone*. Even streaming radio from the BBC when i'm in the office I wouldnæt get anywhere near 1GB a month with just the handset.

1gb is alot of usage tbh and i think if u do go over it they will only send a warning. unless your streaming divx quality videos all the time u wont go over 1gb by just retrieving a bunch of emails and browsing websites

I might go into my local T-Mobile shop then and see what deals they can do.

Strange how the deals are better in the shops than on the web...

Re: My HTC TYTN II arrives tomorrow, where should I start?

It may depend on what targets they have to meet.

I was in the friday before christmas so they might have been giving better deals just to get as many people signed up as possible. So it may depend on the store itself too.

I don't know how t-mobile retail work, but i know of other stores that do something similar depening on when in the month you go in, what you are looking at and how their targets are shaping up.

before you put the rom on, you have to install a couple of other things like hardspl(which lets you install custom roms) and a CID unlocker. Once this CID unlocker is done, your network don't know anything different about your phone.

btw, I just upgraded my contract on t-mobile(contract was due to expire in a month) and online, they said I'd have to pay £180 for the phone, I paid £130 in shop, kept everything the same and took it away that day, and battery was already charged.

Now I've just recieved my 8gb micro sd card and have web and walk plus with a 3gb month d/l limit, my phone is going to take some serious abuse.
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

Re: My HTC TYTN II arrives tomorrow, where should I start?

If you are going to flash it, then a Dutty ROM is a good start.

I'm not running the latest, I think it's the one from the 22nd I'm using.

I also got rid of the annoying t-mobile startup graphic and put on a decent looking Windows Mobile/HTC hybrid graphic.

I'll send you some details of it tonight if i remember

some are stored in the phone as well if im not mistaken. you need to hardspl your device first and then install whatever ROM you wish to have. good luck

There is a good PIM backup app i've been using.

All your contacts and calendar items should be synced with your PC anyway so no need to back them up (if you back them up, flash then restore them, you will end up with two sets in Outlook).

SIMs only store simple name and number, full contacts are always on the phone itself, this goes for all phones.

I got a deal in a shop... their £35 tariff, web&walk+ (£12.50), -£5 promotional offer brings it to:

    £42.50 a month

    handset should have been £60.

I got the handset for free, and my monthly bill is £37.50. It's all about haggling because the sales reps are allowed to change prices to get a sale, and every sale they get they get a commission. (I get £180 of call credit a month, so its a good deal for me)

Re: My HTC TYTN II arrives tomorrow, where should I start?

If you want to go to WM6.1, you need to upgrade your radio ROM as well. Not as daunting as it sounds. The old 6.0 radios don't work with 6.1 and the new ones don't work with 6.0. When i changed up to 6.1 I flashed the Radio first, then the OS ROM, seemed to be OK, they only really crash when you actually try and use the phone with the wrong combination.

This is the main thread to look through, everything is linked from here:
Have a question? Read this before posting! All answers & stickies found here (04-08) - xda-developers

It does branch off into a bunch of other threads to get the relevant information.

This 6 step guide is the basis of it all though
    XDADeveloperWiki - HTC_Kaiser

Pretty sure this is the steps I went through:
ROM Flashing FAQ for Newbies - Please read first [Updated: 2008/02/22] - xda-developers

Several places say you should do a hard re-set, thats where you hold down the two soft keys (beside the green call and red hangup) and then press the reset button beside the USB connector with the stylus for a few seconds. you are then prompted that you will wipe your data from the phone (although not the ROM obviously).

    Latest Dutty ROM:
    [Apr 09] Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19209 Release [User Guide & ChangeLog in Post 2] - xda-developers

I'm using one that is a few releases old. May upgrade to this one though. I don't think there are much differences between the recent ROMs, just slightly newer builds of WinMob6.1 and a few bug fixes.

Hope this is enough to get you started.

Re: My HTC TYTN II arrives tomorrow, where should I start?

Right im having a problem with the PDA Phone ROM Update Utility.

I tick the box saying I understand the risk blah blah blah, click next

I do all the steps, tick the box, click next,

Then always get Error 240: File open

The update utility can not open the requested file. Please check the update utility.

    Any1 have any ideas?
