Well, I was incwedibly bwave and installed it at home, onto Vista Business.
Didn't take too long and I've noticed a big improvement in network copy speeds. It does feel a bit slicker now too, though no evidence to support this!

I knew the download was gonna be available, but thought I had read that they weren't going to put it up on automatic updates until April, so was a little suprised to get home and see it ask me if I wanted to dl/install it.
Put it on no problems... so far
I see everyone's said there's been no "ill effects" so far... What about any noticeable improvements??
nothing really for me here yet. but then only used Outlook and IE since the install so far
No, I didn't have any previous SP1 builds installed (I never do for big things like that). Maybe Vista is just having one of its fits it gets sometimes. Its not the first time updates wouldn't work for me, only to magically work later. :|
It seemed to screw my xfire sound card up. So had to reinstall drivers. Weird.
All ok here. Vista seems the same to me!
I'd ideally like a CD (as per XP SP2) but for now, let's say I want to d/l this at work (fast connection) and take it home to install. I'm neither a MSDN or TechNet subscriber and we're not running Vista at work - what are my options?
No idea.
Any compelling reasons to actually install it in the first place? Anyone?

Yep, or you can pay an extra 50p or so if you're putting an order in with Scan and have a CD sent
Oh dear, what a moron - totally missed those links in the first post
Too many trees in the way of the wood yet again
Thanks for pointing out the obvious
The following link has all the usual "to do" stuff in it, but it's worthy of a mention - Windows Vista Service Pack 1 - Things to Know Before You Download
Installed over the long weekend. I thought it was great it only took 15 mins until I realised I had 2 more reboots to go.
Painless, everything works as it should and an added bonus is all 4GB of my RAM is now seen by Vista (32bit Home Premium)
