Hey, how do you go about deleting the ei.cfg file and saving the ISO?
I tried extracting the ISO to a folder on my desktop, deleting the ei.cfg file, then using folder2iso to save it back to ISO.
The problem is, the size is bigger, and I'm not sure it will work.
What would you recommend?
Size won't matter, you may find that its no longer a bootable DVD though.
Someone left a note on a piece of cake in the fridge that said, "Do not eat!". I ate the cake and left a note saying, "Yuck, who the hell eats paper ?
what's the best way to do it and keep it bootable then?
Try this - it's a tool to change the ISO for you - either to a specific edition or to a 'any' version DVD:

Thanks dangel. The ei.cfg Removal Utility looks promising. I'll give it a shot.
You can re-complie the ISO using something like ImgBurn and make it bootable too.
Well, I've started making my 7AIO disc...
(click here if you can't see the above image)
Just need to add Vista, and figure out a way to add XP![]()
how did you combine them? did you download both the x86 and the x64 ultimate and combine them manually?
I did combine them and I used the ISOs from TechNet.
As to how I did it, first you will need WAIK installed, you can get it from Microsoft Download Centre.
**TYPING THIS FROM MEMORY (currently at work)**
Dir structure
X:\7AIO <-- main working dir
X:\7AIO\x64 <-- copy install.wim from x64 to here
X:\7AIO\final_dvd <-- extract everything from x86 dvd here
Then using imagex scan x64 install.wim files using this command
Each edition will will have an index number (or image number)Code:imagex /info /xml install.wim > blah.xml
Home Basic -- > "1"
Home Premium --> "2"
Professional --> "3"
Ultimate --> "4"
Then navigate to install.wim in the final_dvd...
Now use the imagex /export command to export that certain image number to the x86 install.wimCode:cd x:\7aio\final_dvd\sources
The commands are something like
You will find the first command (which ever one you use) will take the longest (<2 mins), after that the rest will take <10 seconds.Code:imagex /export x:\7aio\x64\install.wim 1 .\install.wim "Home Basic x64" imagex /export x:\7aio\x64\install.wim 2 .\install.wim "Home Premium x64" imagex /export x:\7aio\x64\install.wim 3 .\install.wim "Professional x64" imagex /export x:\7aio\x64\install.wim 4 .\install.wim "Ultimate x64"
Now delete the file x:\7aio\final_dvd\sources\ei.cfg. This will allow you to choose which of the 9 editions you want to install.
Now all you have to do is make the ISO and keep it bootable.
The command is...
And that's it. Test in your favourite virtual program first though. Had a quick run through last night, and I managed to install both x86 & x64 flavours of Professional, but I'm going to test all the edtions before I burn.Code:oscdimg -bx:\7aio\final_dvd\boot\etfsboot.com -u2 -g -h -o -x -m -lwin7aio x:\7aio\finaldvd x:\7aio.iso

Aye its been cracked now.

for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
I've ordered my copy, Cannot wait for the 22nd of October, but one thing has come across my thoughts. I just wondered how many of these will be delievred on the 22nd and will be get them in time.
JONESSIENever use an iPod Touch to type because you need fingers like chopsticks.
I guess I was being hopeful thinking I could use keys for a pro install on ultimate media. Just means I'm going to have to make an AIO disk or burn them all off, even though the images only seem to have minimal differences
What a waste of time / media either way. The Vista approach of all disks being the same but just locking/unlocking features based on its key was much better.
Oh and for any students or academic staff, Windows 7 + keys are now available through MSDNAA. It's the pro version of W7 which means you also get media centre, unlike Vista which is business. Nice move![]()
Agent, you can use your Pro key on Ultimate media. But you need to delete the ei.cfg from \sources\ folder first.
You can do this by extracting the ISO deleting ei.cfg and rebuilding it. Or using this tool as mentioned earlier in the thread (thanks dangel).
