Printer not working after reinstalling W7

My HDD was corrupted so I reinstalled Windows 7, I've now tried to reinstall the printer with the exact same drivers but I can't seem to install it.

The printer is an HP Deskjet F380. I've downloaded the Windows 7 64 bit drivers from HP and running them and again they don't work. It always fails on the last (7th out of 7) step when trying to install my printer. I've looked into the "Devices and Printers" control panel and the printer is there but it only offers the option to scan. It doesn't seem to have any print drivers as checking the properties does not bring up a driver tab for the printer.

When trying to install it manually I get the error code 0x000003eb and this just keeps repeating.

Everytime I connect my printer (whether by USB or just turning it on if the USB is connected) Windows Update will try to look for drivers and it will always install all of them except the one for the actual printer itself, when I try to manually install it through Windows Update, it also gives an error with error code 800703EB.

I've tried searching through pages and pages on google through the two errors codes and I've tried some of the suggestions such as running Command Prompt, disabling Windows Update, deleting all the files/folders in Windows Update and re-enabling it but they don't work.

    Hopefully someone can help!

Re: Printer not working after reinstalling W7

I had a similar issue with an HP printer and Vista.

I had to disconnect the printer, restore the system to a point before I first connected the printer, install the drivers and then connect the printer. Worth a punt?

That sounds like it's worth a try, thanks. I think I've had this problem before originally but I can't remember how I solved it haha.

EDIT: Seems I can't do that as I can't go back enough to when I first installed the drivers

You need to remove all traces of the old driver. If you're confident in dicking around in your registry have a read of this.

Right click on printer in DevManager, and select uninstall. Yank out printer cable and try again?

Aye, but it if didn't install properly is it not going to leave traces of itself all over the registry/PC ?

Too lazy to bother with this problem, my siblings pc has XP so I've just plugged it in their pc instead, problem "solved".
