Well BTC is back at $10400 nearly, although I think few people were pushed over the cliff so to speak. Could be a just a bounce on the way down but who knows etc.
It has been "bouncing" down for the last 10 days or so.
It was interesting rereading this whole thread, especially people in 2013 wishing they hadn't sold their coins in 2011 for half the price; let alone what it's worth now! I did do some digging and actually found the wallet I had in 2011 on a old hard drive. I did remember keeping half a coin, but the wallet shows that I received it and then sent it out a couple of month's later. The problem with BitCoin is that transactions are anonymous, so I have no idea where I sent it or why!
Bumping up to $11K again.
Was hoping it would go down enough to allow graphics card prices to drop, this is recovering way too fast for my liking.
Surely for graphic card prices to drop, it would be enough for new miners - or existing ones considering buying more - to stop buying.
And whattomine.com doesn't show much profit for any card:
- default is 3 x 480 which is currently at least a £600 investment and returns a max of $9.75 (and not many parts of the world pay 10c for each kWh)
- A vega56 (assuming that the Vega64 is worse value) gets around $6.87 for a £530 investment
- A GTX 1080 gets ~ $5.50 for a £500 investment
- A GTX 1080Ti gets ~ $6.78 for £700 invested
- etc.
If I recall it correctly, a rough estimate due to constantly increasing difficulty is that you could calculate the 1st month at 100% of the daily, the 2nd at 70% of that etc. And that's probably a bit optimistic since the cost of electricity stays constant.
None of which would entice me to buy graphic cards for mining. Might get people who already own or have just bough a card to mine for a bit.

Psst.. go back to F@H..
Just watched BTC crash through $9000. The "depth chart" on here is interesting to watch, seeing all the money flow back and forth.

jeez my alts are down to 1/3 of their Jan peak! I don't mind too much though, it's still doubled, but I could have cashed out at the peak and was even thinking about it.
I guess I'll give it 2-4 months and see what happens. The thrills and spills!

Be Careful on the Internet! I ran and tackled a drive by mining attack today. It's not designed to do anything than provide fake texts (say!)
Advice over whether it's a good idea aside, can someone help me buy some btc? The only exchange site I've been able to register for successfully is coinbase and I've got to wait over a month before my limits are raised.
