    Alternatives to Partition Magic

I have several partitions on my hard drives and want to change some partitions round(merge some etc).

I know partition magic can do this but I begrudge paying £30-40 for something I will only use a couple of times.

Are there any alternatives that don't involve losing all the info on a partition(ala fdisk).
I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

Ok I haven't used this software before.. But looks like the exact software you're after, with the best bit being; it's completely free.!

    Hope this helps.

GParted LiveCD? Not sure it will do what you want, but might be worth a shot.

I've used Acronis Disk Director Suite recently and was impressed. The package doesn't do all that much else but is excellent at resizing partitions etc.

It also had a good write up in a recent PC Pro review.

The first post mentioned Partition Logic which I haven't heard about until now. It looks good but seems to have limited support for NTFS partitions (ie: WinXP). Whilst you can resize an NTFS partition can you remove or add partitions??? I'd be interested to hear from someone who's used this product.

I have an old version of Partition Magic which works great under Win 9x but has no support for NTFS. I'm always looking for new software for partitioning etc.

I use Acronis Disk Director as well. I wasn't too keen on spending a lot on something i wouldn't use too much either, but there was a special in PCWorld at the time and you got the backup software for free too. Decided in the end it wasn't work the messing around trying to find fee software that worked well. I've actually used it more than i had thought.
