    Thumbs up

Dudes! I think I haave success (fingers crossed)

I am currently running, at what appears to be a stable, 3GHz!!!!!

    I put on BIOS 14
Unlinked mem - left at 800MHz
    I went straight to FSB 1333 (333 x 9) like Ollie said.
I upped the CPU to 1.45, VTT and NB by 2 notches.
    Set PCIE to 102MHz
And also had to set the mem timing back to 2T (BIOS 14 set it it 1T)

I have booted and tested 3DMark05. And it's still stable!!! It really is a dream come true.

Abit, your really have got a bizzare board here. It's taken many BIOSes and even this one is wierd, but it no allows me a 1.2GHz overclock!!

I want to post a piccy of my CPUZ and 3Dmark just for prosperity.
But I don'tknow how. Can someone let me know how to insert a Pic, cheers?

It worked! Same bizzare thing with my board.
    My voltage settings

CPU VCORE 1.35v Bios - 1.32v in OS - Cpu-Z/Everest/RightMark - Temps 28c/40c w/ Stock intel fan. (Arctic Freezer Pro Soon To Be Added)
    CPU VTT - 1.24v
    NB - 1.31v
    PCI-E 100MHz.
    Memory Unlinked.

I found with my setup that too much CPU VTT would give me random freezing while just surfing net. Also so i have read is that 1.4v on the NB is suppose to be the sweetspot for the 650i chipset so still room for more voltage if needed.

Glad its sorted mate what a bargain eh for this board and a overclocked E4300. The Intel core 2 extreme X6800 (2.93MHz) is like £550+ lol

To insert a pic host an image on imageshack and use the insert image tab.

    Peace

w00t! It works for me too! Haven't tried any stability testing yet but boots straight into Windows no problem @ 3GHz, which i didn't used to be able to do over 2.1GHz.

Only difference for me is I only have 667Mhz RAM so I lefft in linked in sync mode as that puts it right on 667 anyway- but unlinked worked as well.

As Midas says it's freakin' wierd, but I'm not complaining....

Hit 3.1GHz no problems with Midas's settings ran through a few 3DMark runs and all seemed good, now at 3.2GHz although that necessitated bumping Vtt and Northbridge voltages up to 1.38V. Ran 3DMark 06 no problems at 3.2, (9721 3DMarks) now giving it a bit of Orthos torture. Will monitor my temps for the next half hour or so (they're up around 62c at the moment) and if they seem stable will leave Orthos to do its thing overnight.

This ugly duckling seems to be turning into something of a swan.... we weren't wrong when we said we thought the board was capable of more!!!

Now they just need to concentrate on a bios that will allow us to get 450-500fsb without too much drama.

Looks like 3.2 is about my limit- got vcore down to 1.4 (any lower and it fails Orthos immediately) but temps are peaking around 66c at full load so don't really want to push it any further. Still a 1.4GHz OC ain't bad at all!

Wow Meatbix. That is some hardcore O/C. I might try that mself

Kudos to Ollie27 for the heads up in the first place. I don't think i'd have gone up to 3GHz if it wasn't even booting at 2.1, etc.

I haven't checked my temps (what to use in windows vista?) but i'm using a Tuniq 120 behemoth of a cooler so should keep things chilly.

How about a big "THANX OLLLIE27!!!!!!!!"?

Update on my situation: Seems I'm mainly limited by cooling more than anything else now. The initial 1.45V we were using seems to be excessive for 3-3.2GHz, 1.4 seemed sufficient for 3GHz and so far 1.375 seems ok for 3GHz on my chip, however even at 1.4v it was a bit much for my setup temperature wise, my machine reset itself overnight while running Orthos (coretemp log shows a peak temp of 74c, so I'm assuming it was a thermal shutdown given that I have my warnings set at 75c). 1.4v seems to be the min voltage for stability at 3.2GHz, so I thing that is just a little ouyt of my reach for normal operation.
Apart from the temperature everything else seems sweet though- given the overhead available in both VCore and NB voltage I reckon this board and CPU is probably capable of 3.4GHz+ with the right cooler. once I find out what my real stable limit is I'll probably fire it up at 1.45v/3.4GHz just for ****s and giggles although no way I'll be running Orthos at that as it won't last 10 min without overheating.
Midas, with that cooler I reckon you're good for at least 200MHz more than me so 3.2-3.4GHz is prolly a realistic goal for you.

Ollie, you might want to hold off on the cooler purchase and consider something beefier- I have an almost identical cooler to the Freezer 7 Pro (the Coolermaster Hyper TX) and I'm having problems keeping things cool at 3GHz+ right now once I start torturing it with Orthos. Given the OC headroom that these setups seem to have I'd probably be looking at something like a Tuniq Tower or a thermalright ultra-120 to get the most out of it, although looking at the voltages you're running your chip does seem to be able to do its thing with a bit less vcore than mine (I seem to need 1.4v min to stay stable at 3GHz)

For monitoing temps in Vista i use Abit-Eq Everest and Rmclock

    http://cpu.rightmark.org/products/rmclock.shtml

They all give the same readings.

Metabix - I will eventually buy a Tuniq 120 but i use a Antec 900 case and its like a fridge lol Temps are low 30c on idle CPU fan @ 40% Full load temps around 40-45 at the very most.

As for the KUDOS - much appreciated guys but this is what forums are for to share your results ideas etc - Just glad your getting somewere now with this board. Coz my system rocks now and am very pleased with my purchase.

    Take it easy all.

Ah yes the Antec 900... you might as well run it with the case open, you've got that much ventilation with those!

How are you guys going stability-wise? I've got my temps under control (seems with a bit of tweaking I can get the vCore down to 1.35, lowering the vTT to 1.22 seemed to help too) but still doesn;t seem 100% stable, Orthos will run fine for an hour+ but the system eventually locks up (no Orthos errors or anything, it just freezes). Hopefully it's just my screensaver or power saving stuff kicking in thats screwing it up, I've disabled all that stuff and left it running today, hopefully it's still going when I get back.

Update: seemed to be the screensaver screwing with Orthos: I can now report 16 hours Orthos stable at 3GHz!! Very happy with my OC, now lets see if we can ratchet it up to 3.1 or even 3.2

Yes, Meatbix, I also give a big Thanx to Ollie27 (just Ollie ok?)

I downloaded the Righmark CPU utility and at 3GHz and my Tuniq 120 Tower in my Tsunami Dream case (120mm fans front and back) I'm showing 29.0°C :

Awesome. I haven't gone higher than 3GHz yet. Been busy. But I will let you know what I'm at.

*So long as my games are stable that's all that matters*

29c idle is pretty good, I tend to be more like mid-30s, still not bad though. Give it some Orthos small-fft torture and see what it does under load. I reckon a stable 3GHz is fine with these units, 3.2 seems to be where it starts to get challenging. I upped it to 3.1 last night and left it running Orthos overnight with no errors, upped it to 3.15 today before I left for work and left it doing it's thing. I'm sure it'll go higher but I'm trying to keep my core voltage no higher than 1.4 as it gets a bit toasty above that.

By the way these are the settings I've had the most success with:

    3GHz
    vCore: 1.35
VTT: 1.22 (agree with Ollie, too much seems to reduce stability)
    NB: 1.34
    PCIe: 100

    3.1GHz
    vCore: 1.375
    vTT: 1.22
    NB: 1.38
    PCIe: 100

above 3.1GHz 1.4V seems to be the minimum vCore for stable operation and some pretty beefy cooling starts to become necessary. I'm a bit nervous about how I'll be faring in summer when ambient temperatures in my apartment get up towards 30 degrees.

I'll give the Orthos thing a go too and let you know how the Tuniq cooler copes.

Bizzarely, since going to 3GHz my wireless network has been playing up. Could it be that I have a wireless PCI card that overclocking can bugger it up?

I did drop it down to 1.8 again just before coming into work just so my torrents could continue but it does seem flakey.

    Could also be coincidence...
