Just placed my orderrrr!
Anyone else?
I'm going to wait a bit first. I've heard a number of developers say Leopard isn't fully ready for release yet (sort of like the first version of every product Apple releases). But will most likely get it after a bugfix patch or something is released.
Waiting is wise, as is having a bootable backup of your Tiger install, just in case.
For me the critical thing is CS3, and Adobe's last word was that they haven't properly tested it yet. Since Adobe has a habit of not coding in a properly compliant manner I'll let others test it first.
I'd take what adobe said with a pinch of salt. They were using it as an excuse to show that they are still the most powerful developer on apple's os x.
Yep mine is on order. Will we get them on Friday or next day shipping? (monday)
My Mac isn't my main machine anyway, plus it's at work, so I won't be put under any major hassle if it hoses the iMac completely
What I may try (if I get the time) is upgrading my existing Tiger installation with Photoshop, Toast and a load of other applications and see how it copes, then possibly try a fresh installation to see if there's any difference.
I was thinking of just waiting, but I'm too impatient
Seeing as Apple seem to be getting more and more like Microsoft (*runs away*), I'm expecting some issues, but I'll be sure to report back here on any findings anyway.
Since I've just ordered a Mac I've seen the build time on it go up to 7-10 days from the expected 3-4 days. There's also nothing on the order about the OS, so which version I'll end up with who knows. If it does come with Tiger there's an upgrade program that means anyone who buys a Mac between the 1st October onwards can get a copy of Leopard for £5.95. Bargain.
one of my friends bought his new mac on september 29th.... gutted
I gather a newer mac pro desktop is in the works due some time in november, should be interesting. I'm still wondering whether to to go 15" + ws monitor or 17"...

Much as I love Apple products, this needs to be something that doesn't use server chips and overly-expensive FB-DIMMS. It's sad that you can build a better high-end desktop running an illegal version of OSX for half the price Apple charges simply because they're so inflexible.
i didn't know you could use osX on anything other than apples...

You can't - legally, and lets not go there people else I'll lock this thread quicker than greased weasel droppings.
no no, I wasn't implying discussion of the sort, I was just of the impression that it wouldn't work on other non-apple hardware. amazed someone bothered to spend the time to actually make it work on pc gear, what with all the drivers and rubbish to hack through, life's too short! they deserve to be banged up - would leave this world a much better place, no? surely an XP skin is the way to go, plonkers.

You just put the serial number in, and say the machine was delivered 1st Oct... then as long as the serial number is "new enough" to have been delivered then, it's all ok.
Obiviously if you try and put a serial in from 6 months ago, it's hard to see how you could have a 6 month old machine delivered 1st Oct etc.
I did it 4yrs ago as well, when Panther came out (10.3) as my machine shipped with Jaguar (10.2)
Gordy (23-10-2007)
