Looks nice. I hope it's a lot more than a new scrollwheel and a software update though. New formats would be nice, something like OGG playback even if they aren't prepared to support WMA.
that cover looks photoshopped to me. look at the thumb.
anyhow, i remember reading somewhere that mini ipods and this new 4g ipod have the same chip, which is an improvement over the old ipod one. vorbis support may be possible with this chip (the old chip could only play vorbis files at 80% speed.) itunes also has icons for ogg (vorbis), so it could happen...Originally Posted by Caged
They should make some budget versions I reckon, 300 is a little high for the massive kid/student market... The daunting accomadation costs for uni kinda preclude nice mp3 players. I have to make do with a 30quid mp3 cd player
Yeah looks kinda nice, though..as said above expencive, so I guess my economy won't let me have one ..
Love, Peace and Linux
Figures. I wondered why they were allowing Ebuyer and Richer Sounds to sell the 3G ones so cheap.
Where's this leave HP then? All's quiet on the HP iPod front, presumably they will be getting the old models, but I was expecting to hear more about that seeing as HP were aiming to release them around now.
looks nice...dont know if it would tempt me from buying a XENXtra instead tho...the ipods do look a bit nicer but unless the costs come down to the same price [£about £150 for a xenXtra on ebay] i'll be buying a zen next month =)

go look
Prices are down- £299 for 40gb, £219 for 20gb. No 15gb anymore, and the 20gb doesn't have the dock.
New scroll/click wheel too, along with some slight software changes.
Are those the official UK prices and do they still do the student discount? Am quite tempted now.
yes and yes

No dock, but you do get a USB2.0 cable. Very handy.
