tbh what do you expect from a loan car?

Vauxhall know that it's going to have the proverbial thrashed out of it - that's why they don't spend money on it.

I may be wrong, but that's my theory anyway.

    hope for something, yes, sure.

but it is just a car to get you by. If you could find a garage that has better courtesy cars, take your car there.

I have to say that I wouldn't expect much from a courtesy car. In fact some bigger makes that don't do little cars of their own sometimes give little cars fo other manufacturers as a courtesy car. So a step from a jag to a ford ka (for example) would be a bit more dramatic than from one corsa to another

what ya got then matey ?

    Corsa 1.0 three cylinder Club?

as an aside.....the body shops have to pay to lease these things....the insurance companies insist on not paying themselves...and if the bodyshop wants the business it must provide cars....not long ago....you got NOTHING to drive at all

Secondly...it must be a car that the Insurance company can INSURE the driver on....you might have a 1.4....but the next bloke might only have a 1.0.....and 6 points for speeding...thaere is no way...not financially or legaly/ethically....that they would WANT to let someone out in a BETTER car than they can afford to run/insure or even drive safely themselves normally.

I've had a few different makes of car - Vauxhall, Fiat, Alfa, Peugeot etc. and every time I have had loan cars from them, they were bog standard bottom of the range models. I had a Cinquecento with Fiat, a 106 from Peugeot, a Corsa from Vauxhall and a Punto from Alfa. Only when my Alfa was infor one of it's many, many, many problems (that lasted over 10 days) I argue that a Punto was not big enough to cart around my families belongings (shopping, pushchairs etc.), so they caved and gave me a Brava. Maybe you should try that tactic next time?

The whole courtesy car thing just annoys me. Luckily it doesnt affect me, but it did affect someone I knew.

He had a Vectra CDX Estate (Quite why he spent a 5 figure sum on this I dont know but that isnt the issue right now) which he uses for his business. He carted lots of stuff around, lots of the time. It had to go in for warranty work, and they gave him a Corsa and refused to give him anything else. His arguement was that if he could manage to run his business with a Corsa, why would he have bought a top end Vectra Estate?

They agreed, and offered an Astra hatchback.

Utterly clueless. In the end he hired a car from a hire company, just so he could continue to function whilst the dealer replacement a fault on his car which shouldn't have occured in the first place. And someone I else I knew dropped his E500 off and left in a Smart...

You gotta enjoy the 1st gear in it. Its soooo bad you might as well try and start in second because you have to change so soon after starting!

Enjoy matey, it will make you enjoy the beefy 1.4 even more

When my car has been in for warranty work, I always get a 1.2 8v bog standard clio from Renault! (I didn't even know their engines went that little until then!) Like TomWilko says, it does make you appreciate your own car som much more!!!

They don't have to give you a loan car. It is down to the garage, see if you had given the sales rep a couple of bottles of wine - you may have got something better
