Ford is not a prestige badge. It's not a badge that'll impress anyone.
Quite right. But then, cool operates in mysterious ways.

I'd feel a lot better stepping out of A mondeo than an Audi TT.

90% of people getting out of a TT have the 'look at me! notice me!' thing going on.

Getting out of a mondeo may just say 'I don't really care what you think of my car because frankly I don't care what you think' and very oftern 'I got it cause it was £100'

Mainly because I'd not bother getting in one

What I'm saying is, If a car makes me feel cool in some way, I must be rather sad to start with.

There are better cars, there are worse cars. Sorry, but I find it just as annoying when people refer to Golf's as a choice of car.......there is more to life than the Golf!

    And no, i don't own a mondeo

I'd say thats anything but, however when I get out of my car, I pass no thought as to what others think about me based on the car I drive. Thats not cool but I dont care.
What I do like is its comfortable, sounds nice when booted and is faster than 99% of other cars on the road when I want it to be, including care that their owners think are really quick and actually aren't like BMW 328's etc
    EDIT: And TT 180's

Really? Feel the same way about clothes???

You're right - I had the TT because I looked cool in it. Not because I actually wanted one.

TBH I'd be self conscious getting out of a TT. Unless I was wearing a pink shirt and actually was gay of course

Or someone well humoured. If all you want is a car that works and don't worry about what everyone else thinks of it..... that's kind of cool.

Do you remember when Ford releases the Ford Fiesta Mk 4 the one with the boring front, and they advertised it by saying "wouldn't it be boring if all cars looked the same" and they showed boring looking cars driving around all the same and then... wait for it... they showed the boring looking fiesta...

This isn't really related I guess, but, I really like the bargain basement W reg Skoda Fabia I got for £2300, and despite the badge, everybody who sees it says the car is "lovely", "very nice" etc, and I get out of the car I say to myself "I really like my car", and I enjoy driving it, and it's like that with whatever car we've currently got... sure I would prefer the VRS version but I'm still very happy with the £2300 car, and very unlikely (at the moment) to spend £9000 on a better version of my car.

I would drive a Mondeo though, if it was cheap enough, and I'd probably enjoy driving it, because I enjoy driving.

I need to get out more? I'm not the one who started a thread to discredit a car I dislike

The BMW 5 is a great car. ish. No, the M5 is great car, the 5-series is really good. But the Mondeo... great? Nope, not in my books. Good will suffice.
Everything is relative. Just becuase you can afford to buy Audi TT's and Lotus Elises and look down from on high on those of us who have to spend less than 3 grand on our cars does not make the cars, relatively speaking, any worse.

Compared to a 2006 530d Sport Auto, my Mondeo is, frankly, rubbish. Compared to a 2006 Ferrari F430 Spider, your Lotus Elise is, quite frankly, rubbish.

But you don't compare cars in that way so it's irrelevent - you compare them with other similarly available cars for the same sort of money and compared to everything else you can buy for less than 3k, the Mondeo is a great car.

I'm moving to whatever area you're in. I hate driving now and avoid it where possible. I only ever actually enjoy it at 4am when the road is clear. And thats not because I drive super quick or anything, it's just nice to not have so many people cluttering up the road.

Basically it is all realitive. I mean I spent just over £20k on a car just before christmas, and for the money my A4 Cab was about the best option. Now if you're only spending £2000 then it's not, and the Mondy possibly makes a very good choice, I wouldn't buy one as their not in the frame of cars I look at. My situations dictate I need a car that sets an image (What would they think if I turned up in a ratty old Clio to sell them a lot of moneys worth of phones) and the Cabrio has the Image I need, plus Audis are a bit of a love of mine.
