Now I'll buy that. Makes a lot morse sence than the original 5 points to me.

Well that's how I see it anyway. When choosing a car you have to think of how much you want to spend, and what you need. I actually wrote all this down on a piece of paper then spent about 4hours on various websites looking up information on possible cars, then went and bought one that wasn't on the short list, but still had everything I needed then some.
We shouldn't be comparing say Konan' Sierra and my A4 as they are two totally differant cars, bought for differant specs and reasons. I'm sure he likes his Ford and it does everything he needs it to, same with my Cabrio. If you draw up what you need and a Mondeo fits it then buy a Mondeo, if not, buy whatever fits. If nothing fits, well..

Back to the Golf (purely as an example). When someone, apparently without a lot of consideration, wants one, it's compelling to point out there are other things that might be better value. If they give a long list of decent reasons they want the overweight scrabblewaggon (oops, let that one slip ) then fair enough.
Man, I didn't set out to do that - and I didn't call it rubbish - a Perodua Nippa is rubbish... they just ain't for everyone... they're good cars, I wouldn't deny it... and your's sounds like a nice one - but when you own the Bimmer 5-Series I'd be suprised if you looked back through rose tinted specs at your Mondeo... it's nothing personal...Originally Posted by Fox
And if you can stretch to Elise ownership, now's the time to buy - they're really seasonal like m/bikes... but I miss the TT - and had a LHD which saved me £4k over RHD... so when you've got your degree and Mr Bankmanager becomes your friend... who knows...

Of course I won't, but thats becuase I'll be driving around in a car that cost £35,000 new - like I said, everything is relative.Originally Posted by J4MES
The 5 Series will be an improvement over my Mondeo in every way bar ownership cost and reliability - but it will also be costing me 5 times what my Mondeo is worth for a car maybe 2 years newer.

Have you ANY idea how hard it is to stay focused on the 530i and not give in to the temptation of a 540i? Especially given I can insure both!Originally Posted by badass

Why buy a 5 when a 7 is the same price? I'm really hoping that my next car will be an E38 740iL.
Becuase I think the 7 looks quite dated now, especially the front end, and I love the E39. Plus the 7 is dog slow in 6 cylinder form.

Ah well, matter of taste I guess. I reckon the E38 is the most handsome beemer ever, especially on those multispoke 18s that a lot of them have. The E39 is a bit too rounded for my liking. As for the performance- that's why you get one with a V8 (or V12 ).
BMW's finest hour. I can't wait, but the Mondeo has been great in the meantime.

Just gimme some guts and a roundabout and the BMW would be rather confused
