have you thought about a 206 estate thingy? i'd imagine you can trade yours for one, and its a much better car in lots of ways than the 306. or, if you don't mind spending a bit on kit (if that is your thing) what about a 440? they look VERY smart if done right..



maybe its just me? but if you want something a bit *different*, as well as a HELL of a lot safer than a 10 year old pug (gotta bare that in mind if you've got a sprog), cheaper to insure, quicker..

Main thing as rightly mentioned is they are informed, which they are, and that's a good thing. I agree with the comments about the 306, but then that means you can get them cheap and you *might* get lucky. There's definately a certain class of car where you spend money on it and if you're lucky it's still running in 9-12months time - that's perfectly fine (when I was working in the states I didn't want to buy a proper car and couldn't afford to rent for that long, so I picked up a golf gti for 350 quid). As long as you don't have any critical use for it that would really mess you up if it breaks down, then it's not so bad.

I have a Pug 306 1.4 LX T-reg. Still going at 92k miles.

Its a nice car, as said, the 1.4 is slow, but can bomb it down the motorway at 100 fairly easily. Not that i do that, honest.
Its got massive space inside it. Easily fits my entire bass rig with the back seats down. (Thats a 1x15" cab, 2x10" cab, head unit, 1 bass, pedal case) AND I can see out the back window .

One bad thing is its French. Its got some squeeks here and there and the A/C doesn't work (common problem with 306's).

May I suggest you sign up and take a look about the Pug306.net forums? They're all very nice, if slightly chavvy.

1. Its A 1.4 The Same As My Old One So Insurance Dont Change, As Bad Boy Said I Am 19 Got 2 Years Driving Behind Me. So A Bigger Engine Would Cost Me A Bloddy Bomb.

2. Its Bigger Than My Old One, My Old One (heres Something For You All To Rip To Pieces Seen As You All Enjoy Doing It So Well) Was A 1.4 Ford Fiesta, 2 Doors Full Of Rust, White, K Reg ( Want More Info So You Can Diss It??)

The Pug Has Got 4 Doors Loads More Room Inside Which I Wanted, No Rust On It At All And A N Reg.

3. Each To There Own With Taste. Looks Ect
I Like The Fact My Pug Has Got Allys, A Big Exhuast, De Badged Ect It Dont Mean I Drive It Any Different.
Oh And For All Your Info I Bought The Car Like That So It Didnt Cost Me Anything To Get It Done!!

4. I Am Not A Bloody Chav Jus Because I Got A Car That Has Got A Big Exhuast On Dont Make Me A Chav, Have You Seen The Way They Drive? Up Peoples Arses All The Time, Breaking At The Last Moment. Thrashing The Bolocks Of The Car, Cutting People Up Need I Go On?..

I shall defend the 306 wholly and fully, as I am a total fan of it.

But I will NOT defend such dreadful quality posts.

Please, when posting, make it clear, well balanced, SPELL IT ALL RIGHT (as much as you can) and don't anyone (please) take personal offence at anyone elses taste.

A 306 1.4 is very slow indeed. I do not need to justify that statement, it is fact, in a similar manor to the fact that the Titanic hit something slightly larger than an ice cube.

The do not suffer from a fatastic relability record, so you'll need to be a tad patient if you have the all too common electrical problems around central locking, electric windows etc.

The do NOT benefit from large bore exhausts in any way, but they DO amuse us, so carry on, and please return with a photo and even an MP3 track for us to howl with laughter at.

They handle quite amazingly, and Howard's going to hate me for this, but I'd rather own a 306 than a 206 anyday...but as previously stated, it's all personal, and I also own a cardigan and slippers.

Please....people ...get along better.

I am quite pleased that the Hexus regulars pointed out the insurance issue, as it is real, and may bite someone on the arse in the future, so ALWAYS ANNOUNCE MODIFICATIONS.....tell the insurance company.
