I'm not sure.. Manufacturer date is 02/02/06. I told the lady on the phone we got it in September 2006 though.. but she said the warranty was over.
Phone back up and double check, advise the rep that in the UK you get 12 months warranty with the console and you want clarification from a supervisor if needed (get there name too) that the warranty has expired after 10 months....
Bet you get a return them mate -
Bought mine in Feb last year and it's still going strong, but it has had hardly any use until I got Forza 2 and managed to kick my wow addiction.
When they do fail, are you allowed to keep the HDD? What happens to all the stuff on the HDD if you are not allowed to keep hold of it, I have a lot of XBL arcade games on there and would not want to buy them all again.

Living and dying laughing and crying
Once you have seen it you will never be the same
Life in the fast lane is just how it seems
Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean
If the consoles fail then dont worry about the XBL arcade games. if you have to get a new console when you recover your gamertag it will automatically flag you have the full games and you can redownload them to the new console ..... the only issue is as the games are downloaded onto a new console you have to be signed into the live service to play the arcade games otherwise they show as trial versions only

I think in all honesty that the console must have a way of pairing the hdd to the console, as I have tried my old hard drive from my 1st xbox (which recently failed) onto the new console and this also wants me to be connected to Live to play the XBL arcade games.... same as the games redownloaded to the new hard drive also want me to be logged in to play the full version
Bit of a shame really as I am likely to be without internet for the next couple of months so I wont be able to play any of the games I purchased on the first console....
My first console never got the ring of death, what did happen however was that it would just cycle the startup screen over and over. Luckily it was only a couple of weeks after i bought it.
NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, Wii, GBA, DS, PSone, PS2, PSP, PS3 60gb, XBOX, XBOX 360, Master System, Game Gear, Mega Drive, Saturn, Dreamcast, PC Engine, Neo Geo CD
Right. Will give them another ring now then.
XA04 if you ever registered your 360 on the Xbox website, you can got to service.xbox.com and check the status of your warranty. Just make sure that you use the gamertag/login details that you used to register you console.
EDIT

@Carlh: Sorted! Just rang them up.. this guy said it is under warranty. Sending me the labels via email, takes 2-4 days for me to receive them though!
@Ode: I just registered it today when I rang up.. thanks though, will have a look.
It's actually quite useful because you can track your repair despite it not being too detailed.
