Yeah. I'll definitely use it.
Got my labels already. Just need to give UPS a ring!

As most of you know my first console died at the beginning of May - MS said it was out of warranty and would repair it for £85.00, but only give 3 months warranty on the repair.
Anyway I went out at the beginning of this month and bought a new console, the console has been working fine - apart from dirty disc errors playing Forza 2 however on checking the console last night I noticed a few things which seem strange.
Firstly the manufacturing date of the console was 21-06-06, as we only got this console in from suppliers at the end of last month (I bought the console from work) this seemed a little odd - I doubt the suppliers had been sitting on stock for 12 months.
Secondly - the back of the console seem as though it as previously been opened as they are marks on the back of the console where the notches are to open the case.
Thirdly - The warranty sticker on the console is in the wrong place - its under the front panel as normal but on the right hand side near the USB ports and also there is residue from a previous warranty sticker to the left of the power button where it normally is.
As I paid full price for this "new" console - should I be worried about any issues I might have if the console fails within the 12 month warranty period??
Have to say I'm quite lucky my 360 is going very well *touch wood*. Isn't most of the problem S**t ventalation?
carlh that sounds like you got a refurbed console! if so it seems that MS are flogging refurbs to retailers!
josh,
That was my inital thoughts last night - I dont know what to do now... - think I might phone Microsoft later and just let them know - just incase I have any issues with this console and have to send it back under warranty.
Ive only had one xbox 360 die on me, lasted about 15 months so out of warranty
Mine died last week and I've going to phone up their hotline today to get it fixed.
It was only about 45 days outside of the warranty period too.
am still on my first one had it since jan 06, a few friends have had to get replacements tho. think they were out of warranty and exchanged them no problems with HMV
First one died after 2 days - second one is now bout 2 months old and ok sofar
Think I've got the oldest 360 here, the mfr date is 15/01/2006, and it gets used alot so Im still waiting for it to ring of death me so I can get another one as I cant be bothered with the hassle of microsoft saying Ive got to pay for them to repair it and send me a different one back.
I'd rather go shop bought and get a 12 month warranty.
Mine's fixed
New X-Clamps on the board, improved heatsinks and also ducting added inside to aid the airflow from the fans.
how did you get it fixed lee? did MS do it? and was it fixed recently ie are you one of thsoe guys who had to wait more than a month?
I didn't go back to Microsoft as I rang 3 times and got the " you'll have to pay " on each call. In the end I opted for a 3rd party repairer who I've dealt with for a number of years who knew straight away what the fault was just by my description and flashing lights combo from pressing the "synch" and eject button.
I think this thread is an appropriate place to post a link to here.
How a potential problem on this magnitude can be overlooked during R&D is beyond me. If their failing like this in the public domain then surely they must have been having above average failures during testing and development, or maybe they got lucky.
A mate of mine got his 360 back from repair 4 weeks ago, last week it was going back to MS in a box again only this time it was a RRoD problem. Mine hasn't failed yet, I am hoping that my cooling method will help ease the risk of it failing, but hey who knows, it looks like your either lucky, unlucky or seriously unlucky if you own a 360.
