    Re: Halo 3 review

How amusingly heated! I wandered past a blockbuster last night on my way to the footy and thought I might grab a copy for £34.99. They didn't have any and I was quite pleased I have saved my money. I am rubbish at FPS' and think I may hate Halo!

Then again I enjoy those where it gets a bit silly (RTCW and team fortress were good) so perhaps it might suit me?

    Hmm.

Anyways I won't give my judgement until I have played it. It certainly won't get 10/10 or even 9/10 if SP is too short though, or the graphics or sub par!
    Not around too often!

    Re: Halo 3 review

Well I played it for about 30 minutes last night (didn't have time to play it for long ) and I really enjoyed what I played of it. My initial thoughts are this:

    Graphics:

Yes it is not as pretty as GoW BUT there is far more going on at any one time. Also some of the scenery is absoloutely beautiful. Lots of swaying trees etc.

One let down is that some areas look more like Halo 2 graphics, but in general very nice. Needs HD really though.

    Gameplay:

Much the same as before, as I said I have only had 30 minutes to try and I really liked it. I will have to reserve full judgement until I can have a proper play.

    Sound:

Brilliant, as normal, probably wouldn't have the same effect if not on 5.1 though.

My biggest gripe is the change of the reload button up to the small R trigger. Meant I kept throwing bubble shields out instead of reloading. Grrrr. I am sure that I can change that though.

Going to go home and have a proper go tonight and then I will have a better idea methinks.

So far am enjoying the campaign coop so far seems really fun. With multiplayer I think it could be better, I prefer CoD 4 for multiplayer over halo 3 though

its never going to be counterstrinke or UT2004 or Q3A, but its not trying to be. it doesn't involve getting a room or two full of comps together at the same time. and i can only speak from personal experience, but i know SO MANY more people that are going to be playing it as fanatically as i am than could ever be with a PC game. it looks like a 2 year old pc game without AA or AF on... :/

I guess the gameplay might be a plus side but this game was hyped so much.

OK. Tetris is just about fun. As is Mario Kart. As is Luigi's Mansion. And Space Invaders. And Jet Set Willy.

But they don't need screen shots..cos they look pants.

Please tell us WHY it's about fun.

Tell you what: go play a really cracking multi play game, word it like you see it, and post it here. Tell us WHY it was a great gaming session...WHAT made it so cool?

Do you see what I mean? Screenies are one thing.....game play and fun are to be described.

oh I feel myself turnnig into Stewart!!!

What I was getting at is that Blackmage, bless him, tells us that it's all about fun and then shows us a screen shot that means nothing to us!

    Re: Halo 3 review

    HMmmm.....

I got this today and have played it for 30-40minutes roughly. I've never played Halo 1/2 but I'm not very impressed with Halo3 thus far.

    1) I struggle to hear what the hell people say to me... I don't know why - it's fine on every other Xbox game and It's turn up seriously loud on a 5.1 system!

    2) Because of 1) I've no idea what the hell is going on or what I'm meant to be doing.

    3) The weapons look like they were found in a xmas cracker.

    4) The start area is stupidly easy... then you get to a certain place and the difficulty takes a turn past midway plaza and right into concrete city. I'm sure other people know the area I mean here?

That's as far as I've played it thus far.... will give it another blast tomorrow.

    Re: Halo 3 review

I've probobly got about 4 hours time in on this.
    Genrally good and addictive.
But i found the graghics a little disapionting compared with other 360 games like COD and GRAW2.

You still somtimes find yourself with no clue as to where to go you wander around helplessly untill you find it.

And there are a few areas which are very, very hard.
I'm guessing the previous poster is talking about the bridge?? very annoying when they come from an area already cleared by you.

Genrally though i'm enjoying the game but i think the reviews were way ott, my opinion 7/10

    Re: Halo 3 review

    ** WARNING SMALL SPOILER **

The area I was talking about is after the forest place when you get back to your base ( i assume - cant hear anything! ) and you end up in this long room with a few cars in it - loads of those big guys who keep respawning for ages and there is a catwalk type area above where you can get to by climbing or using one of those grav things.

Took me loads of attempts baring in mind I was only 20-30 minutes into the game and I don't consider myself a 'novice' at games so I was quite surprised.... seemed to me like I skipped half of the training mission...

I'm not in any hurry to start playing it again to be honest.. so far I'd give it a 6/10. GoW is still the 360's flagship game for sure.
