Re: Fallout 3 - What do you think?

    Bloody amazing.

As with all bethsoft games though, it's not about the main plot which is pretty poo (and ends the game unless you get the broken steel DLC), but all the other stuff which is brilliant.

do you mean if I complete the main game I can't do the side stuff without restarting the game again? It's like that in Mass Effect and it pissed me off!

With the vanilla game that's correct - the game stops at the ending. With Broken Steel they change that and you can carry on. It's fairly clear when you're getting to the end, and there's no time limit or anything, or just keep different save games so you can go back. But if you just take your time with the main quest there's about 100 times more content outside of it to explore.

Just do it - wonderful game, utterly absorbing and excellent value for money (a LOT of hours of gameplay).

Re: Fallout 3 - What do you think?

If you want to follow different paths within the game and have different skills - Save the game just as you exit vault 101 as this asks you to confirm your skill sets before going through the game.

I've got a few save games, all with different skills and stuff and it does call me back to play when I've got a few hours spare.

Re: Fallout 3 - What do you think?

I did really like it, but didn't think it has moved Oblivion on that much and so was left a little bit empty after the end. I did a fair proportion of the subquests, but it got to a point where I was pretty invincible with the best guns/armour and loads of money so the challenge was completely lost. Still worth a punt though.

Re: Fallout 3 - What do you think?

I let this game slip by me till just a couple of weeks ago..
As soon as I left the vault I was instantly addicted, there's so many interesting little quirks in the game that keep you smiling.

I've played a huge number of titles and this is definately in my top 5.

You're in for hours of fun mate, I've clocked the main quests and am about half way through point lookout and the game is still swallowing time like nobodys business.

It's a huge game with a lot of different routes to take. To echo what's been said, I'd advise you not to try to level up all your skills evenly and be a jack of all trades. It's better to choose 1 or 2 areas of expertise (eg. charisma or stealth/intelligence or brute force heavy weapons) to focus on and play to those strengths. You'll have much more fun that way. Also don't bother trying to play it like a first person shooter, all weapons are pretty useless if you don't use VATS. Runs pretty well on my mid-range PC too.

Re: Fallout 3 - What do you think?

Just out of interest. How you guys finding his game on your 360?

I have it on my PC so it may look more high res. But bloody hell, sometimes the frame rates get reduced to a slideshow for minutes at a time before sorting itself out. Very unbalanced there. And then I get crashes to my desktop.

I ask this as I may want another play through as a different character. It may be worth me waiting for the GOTY edition for me 360?
