im just polishing off Point Lookout, then im heading south (think its south) to the Mothership expansion part.

how far into the game do you get a house? i could do with some storage space!
I never really used melee in Fallout but my point was that melee combat in first person is clunky as a general rule, also Fallout was all about the VATS.

You should get a house or apartment quite early in the game.

You get a house in Megaton after you have done the Bomb Quest.

You dont have to, you can just take some Mentats which will boost your stats,

Remember you can use speech skill to get 500 caps out of lucas rather than 100.

Dont forget if you report simms to lucas he (sheriff) will track down simms to the bar, make sure your in there as well and as soon as simms pulls a gun on lucas blast him first, you'll be thanked and the sheriff will still be alive!

aaah of-course! i keep forgetting about the drugs!
whats the whole reporting thing? is that part of this atom bomb chain quest?

after doing the Anchorage expansion quite early on - im REALLY tempted to re-make another char as heavy - even though the Stealth suit from the vault is practically in-valuable to stealth: how cool do the Outcasts look??? big a$$ red and black PA with a minigun . . . but i should get a playthrough under my belt first so i know what to expect

Re: Fallout 3 - What do you think?

its nice up there as well, but I defused the bomb, I like my shack with the upgrades so I have a duke box etc.

Fallout 3 is missing one HUGE thing though... weather, it would be really cool if it rained, snowed, electrical storms etc.

Re: Fallout 3 - What do you think?

Pretty sure you can get the upgrades for your room in tenpenny, big issue is you'll lose out a few quests if you nuke megaton.

I still love this game, love it even more now that the latest nvidia drivers seem to have finally sorted out the issues I was having (constant BSOD, or older drivers 2-5 second stutter every time I used VEATS or talked to someone)

Still palying, still exploring, although starting to miss some of the more indepth back ground you got in teh 2d games

    Experimental medical power armour, check
    Gattling laser, check
    fully repaired Sniper rifle, check
Constantly chucking grenades just to lighten my backpack, priceless

Just wish I'd not gone for the £15 basic version and spent the extra £10 on the Game of the year edition, I'm going to have to buy the add on packs now :/ or get the Game of the year edition and sell the basic one . . . but everyone seems to already have it.

Re: Fallout 3 - What do you think?

i finished point lookout last night - that was an interesting bit of DLC, working for a suited ghoul and his dogs, getting drugged up, getting a fragment of my brain removed and PLENTY of loot. took Gtech's advice too to disarm the nuke, although every alarm bell in my head and fingers screamed DO IT!!! my law abiding RPG OCD kicked in and i disarmed it
after taking the mentats i had 24!!!!! explosive skill but luckily i got a blast helmet from the supply shop which game me to tip over to do it and get my house (thank god) carrying an Outcast PA set and the Winter PA set was KILLING me for bag space!
im going to carry on with some of the actual game content to see a bit more before heading to Mothership Zeta as im VERY happy with the equipment i have right now and dont want to get the better gear TOO early on
and im happy from having the Megaton 'Heavy Blast suit' (which is the vault overalls with a bit of metal on the shoulder) to having the Chinese Sneaking Suit with a sniper rifle!

Re: Fallout 3 - What do you think?

i've just done Arefu - investigating the houses and finding a couple dead in their house - my medical skill picks up bite marks on the neck > long story short and avoiding spoilers: this is one of the quests im going to enjoy on the 2nd playthrough when i make a heavy gunner with Bad Karma i wont be so diplomatic with the freaks next time

just before bed i arrived at Rivet City, found the young boy's aunt, did a few more simple quests but have a few questions:
    1. Attending the priests sermen on Saint Monica, does it do anything to warrent waiting until sunday morning?
    2. this guy 'Sister' who had a woman freaked out by his presence (a former slave) yet you engage in dialogue with him and he says nothing.
    3. the Android quest chain - stupidly i took the easy way out and lied to the old crone with the androids unique electronic component, has anyone actually done the full version and found him?

    1. No, it does nothing at all but I still waited.
    2. if you have already spoken to Mei Wong and decided to help her he will say nothing.
    3. Nope, I lied as well.
