    Re: PSN down

Not the PSN. Just yet another Sony business.

Lulz Security said it broke into servers that run SonyPictures.com.

1,000,000+ unencrypted users, unencrypted admin accounts, government and military passwords saved in plaintext. #PSN compromised. @Sony
That's from "Lulz Security" twitter feed. Perhaps they put the wrong tag in? *shrug*

    Re: PSN down

They are stabilising the network at the minute, store is getting hammered with being offline for so long and people were getting errors most the day yesterday as it couldnt cope with the influx. Once they have it stabilised again thats when they are going to launch the welcome back program.

I have a feeling we will see our freebies somepoint today as I have been on this morning and downloaded the Outland trial and also finally got my L A Noire DLC, no errors at all and it was fast (As fast as my pants internet will allow anyway! ). I have also noticed though that where you log in for the stat tracking and the sig I have it says offline and was late last night so they are definately doing something.

    Re: PSN down

The welcome back offer has started!

To claim your free stuff, access the PlayStation Store on your PS3, click the Welcome Back banner once in the store, select "PlayStation 3 free games", hit "Get now" and then make your selection. You can also activate your PS+ from the same menu.

Good luck getting on though, error code has started again due to high volume of people on the store at the moment. Going to keep trying though, even if I can just get the downloads going it will be good enough till it quietens off a bit.

    Re: PSN down

Just got on there and tried to click the free ps3 games link and it gave the error, now that and the PS+ has vanished! Just hope it hasnt registered the fact I have got my games

Think it is just getting hammered so bad at the min that its messing things up something rotten.

Did notice a free dragon theme free on PS+ so going to grab that once I manage to get it activated

There is also another way via the account management screens if your icons dissapear, one of the Eurogamer users found this one :

1 On your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable navigate to the PlayStation Network icon on the XMB
2 Log into your PlayStation Network account and choose Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List
3 Choose “PlayStation Network Promotions” from the list of services displayed
4 Select either “PS3 Free Games” or “PSP Free Games” and then choose “Select Content”

    Re: PSN down

Think i'll probably go for Infamous and either LBP or Ratchet and Clank, but can't really decide which.

Any idea how often the offers such as Burnout Paradise etc... free for PS+ users change? weekly? monthly?

    Re: PSN down

    PS+ change monthly.

If you grab any of the games from the PS+ free service you will only get them for this month. To keep playing them you will need to subscribe to the service. So for example Burnout will expire in a month. Anything that you buy at a reduced rate though is yours to keep forever.

I've managed to get the games I wanted, inFamous and Little Big Planet overnight. I had to access them via the account management method. You also get 3 free movies to rent SD or HD versions of Final Fantasy Spirits Within, Resident Evil Degeneration and House of the Dead 2 : Dead Aim, 3 CGI movies. Decided to grab them, you get them for 30 days, however once you start to play them you get 48 hours and then they are gone.

    Re: PSN down

I got mine via the account management screens, put a how to just above if it happens to anyone else. Follow this and you can activate your PS+ and get your games :

1 On your PlayStation 3 or PlayStation Portable navigate to the PlayStation Network icon on the XMB
2 Log into your PlayStation Network account and choose Account Management > Transaction Management > Services List
3 Choose “PlayStation Network Promotions” from the list of services displayed
4 Select either “PS3 Free Games” or “PSP Free Games” and then choose “Select Content”

    Re: PSN down

I did that but it said '0 remaining' - went into PS store under downloads (ie everything you've ever downloaded in a list) and the two games I chose were there even though I'd never actually started to DL them. Getting them now

    Re: PSN down

Awesome, its just the whole so many users it cant keep up. Dont forget the 3 movies also you can grab from the vid store. Final Fantasy I enjoyed but never seen the other 2.

I've noticed that some of the origional content on the store has yet to be put back up, Medievil from the PSOne classics is missing at the mo and it says I'm in the wrong area for Parasite Eve 2. PE2 isnt listed on the store but was in the update, you can find it if you search for it. I grabbed the Outland Demo last night also, going to pay for it next week, REALLY good indie game, worth taking a look.

    Re: PSN down

Yeah click video top left side and it flicks over to the movie rentals, dont get me wrong, not the greatest but you can get them in HD and its something to watch. Once you go into the movie bit there is a Welcome Back button at the top or a big banner right side like on the games bit.

Tried looking at your download history in PSN store? I DL the welcome back thing, then tried to get 2 games, both went to checkout but crapped out around then. When I went back in I couldn't choose anything but they were in my download history for some reason.
