    Re: PSN down

Yeah, I was reading about this last night, Anonymous are hitting the network and a group that go by the name of SonyRecon are planning on doing identity theft of Sony employees apparently.

These people are doing this to get at Sony, but are they aware of the legitimate users who will end up suffering because of their actions. It also makes you wonder how secure your personal details and card info are.

This seems pretty pointless to be honest. What will they gain or Sony lose from this? People know it's not Sony's doing.

i see your point there, but i guess sony will lose something including people that are annoyed about it being down and then going to the 360 consoles instead.

Surely it's not going to be down long enough for people to consider buying a new console?

    Re: PSN down

It seems to be an issue in Japan

"Are you having an issue signing into the PlayStation Network? Well don’t worry, so is everyone else. The issue seems to stem from a problem in Japan, but you can rest easy, Sony engineers are hard at work getting it fixed. Check out a couple of tweets from the company below."

    http://www.lensoftruth.com/news/issu...nocks-out-psn/

Also PSN is expected to be back running after 1-2 days. So either today or tomorrow

    Re: PSN down

    It's an issue here, too.

If it's not half a gigabyte of updates, it's PSN outage, or *something*. What a nerve wrecking platform. :\

    Re: PSN down

Apparently (again!!! ) it could be an issue in Japan but they are also looking at outside interference from a 3rd party.

Yesterday afternoon they were saying that it could be down for as long as 48 hours.

According to different sites across the web, Anonymous have nothing to do with it according to their Twitter feed, however they did release the tools to be able to do whatever to Sony apparently. So whos to say whether it is another group hitting Sony or if it is actually a problem on Sonys side due to the Japanese Crisis. Its strange though that a problem in Japan could bring the whole network down worldwide, they have servers all over the world in different countries. When you connect to PSN you are localised, not connected to Japan if in Europe.

Something dodgy is going on or one of Sonys new interns has pushed a button that they shouldn't have and deleted the whole lot!!!
