Do you think we should cancel our cards?
Do you think we should cancel our cards?
could be the end of sony playstation.
YES!
My credit card registered on my PSN account was used over the weekend in america to pay for a hotel stay and some gold apparently - my card company phoned me up yesterday to cancel my card and block the transactions.
Co-incidence? Maybe but it's very plausible that it's a direct result of this hack..if they got card numbers with expiry it's childsplay to print that number on a card and use it in the USA, where credit card fraud is so easy to commit.
Very angry with Sony to be honest, there is no way that these CC details should have been leaked if they had stored it correctly under the PCI/DSS Rules!
I've already had my first bogus email claiming to be from EA, quoting my psn id. Came through last night saying i had a pm waiting for me in an inbox at the EA forums, and to click a link to see it.
Thankfully i never bought anything off the store so at least they couldn't have got my bank details.

Wow thats just shocking!
What are Sony going to to do as way to re-inverse people for all the hassle they are going to get now for having all the hackers and spammers try it on?
I can't remeber what details I gave in to PSN it was that long ago now and becuase their network is down I can't find out!
Due to the nature of the data I will probably have to keep an eye on my credit check reports... more money down the drain! Sony should pay for this if you ask me.

I don't own a PS3, feel sorry for anyone that does and got caught up in this. This whole fiasco is ridiculous, not only that it happened in the first place but their handling has been dreadful. Are there any sapient lifeforms in Sony's PR department? Seriously though, handling situations like this is first year stuff on a Business A level. Even with a scapegoat handed to them on a plate they've managed to screw the pooch at every possible opportunity on the PR front. With the talent and resources at the disposal of one of the worlds largest media company's it's just mind boggling how they've done so badly.
On the credit card front, I'm pretty sure it'll be covered for most and the bank will take it up with sony's insurance company but I imagine it will be a monumental hassle for those affected.
If it's any consolation; EU and federal investigations, class action suits and inevitable share price tank in 3.. 2...
very bad indeed. dont think i will ever buy a sony console
one of the best replies on the sony blogi hope my trophies are safe!!!!!!!11
I know its already been said, but just to reiterate if you have any credit or debit cards on there CANCEL them now!
I've not got a PlayStation, but I have been a victim of card fraud... I amazed Sony didn't warn about this loss of personal data sooner, they must of known...
Hmm I never bought a game via psn - can't even remember if I gave a real name or DOB when I signed up to PSN. defo know it was an old email address.
Wow, that's a massive balls up by Sony (particularly on the PR front) and good timing by the hacker given the Anonymous/GeoHotz issue. Full sympathies for those on the PSN network, especially those with card details out in the wild.
It wont be the end of PSN (too much demand for it, even with this issue), but Sony's investors can probably expect lower returns this year.
