Cat, I'm not sure - if they were short on volume they'd just do an nVidia and paper launch/halo launch. The hit to investors on a no news delay is far higher.

The thing is that Interlagos was always stated for a Q3 2011 launch and Llano was originally Q3 2011 too.

I assume AMD might be scared if that they show their hand too earlier and are unable to ship CPUs for two to three months it would give enough time for Intel to rain on their parade.

On top of this ever since the original Phenom AMD has been relatively quite about their products before launch. AFAIK,the Phenom II X4 and X6 had very few leaks before launch. The HD4000,HD5000 and HD6000 had very few leaks about the configuration and peformance of the midrange and higher end parts too.

It looks like AMD delayed Bulldozer on purpose in favour of Llano:

    Re: AMD - Bulldozer Chitchat

Well personally i think it HAS to be bulldozer, we need some solid performance indications otherwise motherboard manufacturers have to sell their 990 chipsets on the basic suggestion that Bulldozer is gunna be tits. Thats not enough for me so fingers crossed.

Semiaccurate reckon the server chips have now been brought forward in place of the desktop chips.:

    Re: AMD - Bulldozer Chitchat

Bulldozer has caused a lot of turmoil in my CPU buying. I'm currently considering an i5-2500k. But I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that bulldozer will be superior and of a competitive cost. I love how, with AMD, you can keep a single motherboard for a long time without needing to upgrade due to a new CPU socket (INTEL!).

And then there's Ivy Bridge. Daym. I'll then have to wait for that to be released and benchmark it with bulldozer. But then a second generation of bulldozers will be out! I'm struggling to get my head around it. I just hope GPUs don't change like this! I'm looking at the Radeon 6950 (flashed to 6970 ) for christmas. Buuut that's a different matter!
