Next you'll be telling me to wait and see....?
What you have done is highlight the lack of information about BD.
If this is AMD's next big thing their sales pitch is utter pants.
I have the cash, want to buy & the best info you I can get is "we don't know, so just wait"
Intel 1 AMD 0
When did asking for ball park figures constitute predicting the future?
Because you're asking forum members who do not work for AMD or any organisation that's likely to have had any sort of access to even pre-production chips. There is no way we can know even a ball-park figure. There's nothing you can do but wait and see, there are NO confirmed benchmarks of any of the chips I'm aware of. You're asking and taking your frustration out on the wrong people, you have the same information available to you as we do.

"There is no way we can know"
That's all you needed to put as for being frustrated (ask ya girlfriend)
I'm by no means frustrated with the forum, it's more with myself for not buying my i7 setup three weeks ago
If I had to guess, I'd say it's not as good as intels chips. If it was, they would release benchies. I reckon it's slightly worse but they'll offer better bang for buck. In order to keep people from buying intels now, when you can actually compare prices I reckon they'll hope to tempt people.
Bit of a piss take if I'm honest. I'm going to be ordering my i5 in the next week or so unless anything new emerges (doubtful).
Cleavage is like the sun...Quick glances.

My thoughs exactly
No sales info
No benchmarks
No release date
NO sale
You should know in this biz that you can only go on what you've got in front of you. There's *always* something better coming down the pipeline, but until it arrives, it's infinitely slower than the system you could be enjoying today. If today's stuff is fast enough, and within budget, you won't be losing out.
I'm thrilled to bits with my last generation i7 950. It was well within budget, and blows my old computer out of the water. That I've just bought an even faster computer for less, for the wife, is beside the point when I'm already getting great use out of it. It's not suddenly got any slower.
Intel's constant socket changes are my biggest issue, 1155 already has a replacement I've missed the boat on that one as I'm buying into a product with a limited life expectancy.
BD offers a buy in at it's start of life giving far better longevity (at least AM3+will last a while)
That's if it ever gets here....?
Please have a look

X79 LGA2011
That is for Sandybridge-E CPU's, the boards will included more PCI-E lanes, Sata Ports, Quad channel memory, Sandybridge CPU's with more cores etc. It replaces the current LGA1366 line up.
That also means it will be more expensive then the current LGA1155 sandybridge CPU's. The LGA1156 was replaced with the current LGA1155 which currently has sandybridge CPU's and the future Ivybridge CPU's planned for it.

I was on another forum and interesting reason popped up for why AMD has decided to delay Bulldozer!
It maybe due to the capacity of the 32NM fabs at Global Foundries. Since Llano is the higher volume product it could probably mean that AMD simply cannot produce enough Bulldozer,Interlagos and Llano CPUs together ATM as these are all 32NM. In fact the same issue is happening with Zacate which is being made by TSMC.

All I wanted to do was upgrade my five year old rig, it's getting a little old & slow.
The more I read the more despondent I get ?
Within six months hex cores will be a thing of the past, clock speeds of 4GHz will be pretty much standard, it just isn't worth upgrading this side of Christmas (for me at least)
A real positive for me is finding this forum.
Time to save, update my computer knowledge.....? & dream of things to come
That definitely sounds plausible, considering the relative market shares. It's unfortunate though, hopefully the product will end up better performing (refined silicon - higher clock/higher yield/lower TDP) rather than the same thing released a few months later - technology moves fast! I didn't know they used any fabs other than GF? I suppose this is an advantage Intel has with their massive production capacity.
