3 more months of my bloody 775 system, i want to change! I want USB3.0 built in, i want SATA 6, i want crossfire/sli... i just want to do something new, put something nice and shiney in my new case.
Can i wait another 3 months? Yeah i guess i can buy some of the other bits and spread the costs a bit but why bother when i dont really see it overtaking intels high end chips anyway? The only reason i can think of is that with AMD at least you have the possibility that the platform as a whole wont necessarily all be killed off and i wont be forced to upgrade the whole thing every time i want to change. Its a pretty big point to be fair but is it enough?

My gaming rig has a 975X motherboard,a Q6600 currently at stock clockspeeds and an HD5850 1GB. It also seems the SATA controller is on the fritz after having the motherboard for 4 and a half years.
OTH,I have a Core i3 2100 as my everyday use PC(because of the problems with the Shuttle) but the modified Shuttle case is limited to shorter graphics cards such as an HD5670. Investing in a case like an SG07 or Q08 would have been nice but beyond what I want to spend for a while.
If the motherboard wasn't flaky then I would have stuck with the Q6600 until next year TBH!
I tend to try and get the maximum use out of my PCs which I suppose means I generally try to keep a computer as long as possible. I was still using an XP2800 until the end of 2006(although it was fine for running most games at that time). Hence, I only tend to do full upgrades when the computer is either too slow for my purposes or starting to get unreliable. OTH,I tend to have two desktops so I suppose it is easier to pace upgrades that way.

WTH is Trinity? I just keep expecting to see press release slides of 'the bomb'.
Kalniel: "Nice review Tarinder - would it be possible to get a picture of the case when the components are installed (with the side off obviously)?"
CAT-THE-FIFTH: "The Antec 300 is a case which has an understated and clean appearance which many people like. Not everyone is into e-peen looking computers which look like a cross between the imagination of a hyperactive 10 year old and a Frog."
TKPeters: "Off to AVForum better Deal - £20+Vat for Free Shipping @ Scan"
for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
HardOCP did say they may show Bulldozer at an event they are holding in July:

Bulldozer on LN2 supposedly:

AFAIK,it is the same website which had some benchmarks of Llano recently.

Why do you thing cat has so many pcs with ati cards in?? Eyefinity anyone ??
In all honesty I would rather wait until they have solved as many problems as possible that AMD turn up to the table with a half baked product that will reduce there name to dust in a second with the enthusiast crowd. My money is earning (almost no) interest in the bank waiting for BD to turn up
I am thinking a nice shiney ROG AM3+ motherboard and 8 gig of 1866 ddr 3 might not go amis until BD arrives
Would somebody please point me in the right direction.
Has anybody got a spec sheet or actual bench tests for BD?
With respect all I can find is hearsay, surely somebody can tell me in real terms what sort of performance gains are to be had from BD
What will 2 more cores plus improved number crunching give in terms of % gain over a high end i7
All I want is ball park figures 1,5,10,50% because if its less than 30% I'm off to Intel
Thanks
@bigizzman
This is the problem and the frustration of people reading the varying threads on BD is very clear. If the current stepping is fine then why not release benchmarks
