Interesting (especially as it's a pure FPU test), although not getting carried away yet

    EDIT: Also... http://lenzfire.com/2011/07/amd-bull...nalised-24475/
So a machine with 2x16 core server chips beats a desktop i5

But JF-AMD's take on that benchmark 'leak' was:

    3. anyone trying to determine how a bulldozer will perform based on this benchmark data is going to be wrong, no matter how you slice it
    4. this data might not even be real

    There you go.

    Eh.. no.

edit: I like the sound of trinity with an HD7000 core. I wonder if you'll be able to farm off FPU work to the GPU part of the chip while using a discrete card as well?

The irony that there is no difference at all between you posting what you believe is a fact and you posting what you believe is a joke is not lost on me.

    lol

hardly... they make some incredible stuff.

there's the odd one or two Radeon cards that they sell here or there.. only a few I know, and not much good but hey... everyone counts, no? Every few million helps... every year.

Then there's the occasional CPU with a gpu built in that's capable of playing modern games on medium sized monitors without breaking a sweat and can keep up with a £50 graphics card on a 2500k for far unsder the price.

    http://www.hexus.net/content/item.php?item=30964&page=8

Then there's a 6 core cpu they do.... clearly only bragging rights, but not bad on some stuff and for a 3.2 gig unlocked 6 core chip that's £130 delivered from Scan it's not a bad old engine to run a rig on.

So... lets not knock the boys too badly... if you want a value gaming rig, AMD will take much of your money.

Must admit I didnt see the humour there. Your original post said AMD is finnished! no smiley just a bold statement. I would rather a chip maker spent more time on a product to get it right than put out junk. The BD chips had better be worth it after all the wait

    Re: AMD - Bulldozer Chitchat

It seems that the Bulldozer clockspeeds have been leaked by Gigabyte:

    http://www.gigabyte.com/support-down....aspx?pid=3880

    http://www.gigabyte.com/support-down....aspx?pid=3901

It seems the B2 stepping will be the first production stepping.

    http://lenzfire.com/2011/07/amd-bull...nalised-24475/

now all we need to know is the turbo speeds! if the 8170 exists and is 3.9ghz thats going to own, hopefully .

Come on AMD, bring out something like the old athlon days!

    Re: AMD - Bulldozer Chitchat

Hmmm... I wonder how cores vs clock will turn out (within Bulldozer, not comparing intel). Like will the Quad Core 4120 @ 3.9/4.1 perform better than the Octa core 8100 @ 2.8/3.7? And are these cores actual cores (i.e., Intel cores) or Bulldozer modules?

I'm really looking forward to seeing if any of these can move the i5-2500k from it's position as best bang for buck gaming CPU... I do hope so! Do you think it'll be as easy to overclock as the Intel 'K' chips? Just turn up the multiplier?

Yes, I think the gaming chips will be very easy to overclock - think software rather than BIOS even. Beating the i5 2500k's launch bang for buck should be doable - Intel had no competition and probably has very nice margins. Bad news for AMD is it can afford to drop the prices *if it needs to*. Even more so with Ivy Bridge most likely.

That's quite interesting. I've personally never overclocked, so the easier the better The outcome of BD pretty much dictates my build - I'll either do a BD build at Christmas or if it's not the best (I really hope it's good) I'll have to wait for Ivy...
