for all intents it seems to be the same card minus some gays name on it and a shielded cover ? with OEM added to it - GoNz0.
More importantly: if Bulldozer is the abject failure that many seem to be suggesting why am I finding the FX-8150 out of stock at every etailer I've tried? The way things are going I'm going to have to go with a 2600k Intel build come the weekend, and I really had my heart set on BD for my VSphere lab build
So, because demand>supply then supply<demand? Really?

I didn't directly say one caused the other i was just trying to get across that the reason the chips are out of stock could be because supply from AMD is poor due to GFs renowned inability to produce high yields, as much as it was people actually wanting them.
yeah i don't think the supply can keep up with the demand, but im not convinced the demand is actually particularly massive. Demand for high end CPUs in the consumer market is pretty slim as it it, add into the equation the fact that the competitors chips are generally better performers for the larger part of that already slim market place's customers and i cant see why there would be.
What splash wants to do with it is pretty niche
Don't forget 8 "cores" is quite marketable as well.

I know what you meant, I was just being flippant.
However, the yield issues are largely resolved now, evident when you look at measured power draw of the newer batches amongst other things. Also remember that Llano, which makes up a far greater market share, is also produced at the same fabs.
Indeep it probably is improving, but Llano is valid point to bring up as it probably also factors into the low supply. If im not mistaken they both use the 32nm process and Llano being the notebook based high volume chip is probably in much higher demand so will get priority... or am i missing something?
No that's what I mean. But it could also be due to surges in demand, if it's mentioned in a popular review, or if a large company places an order (those Cray systems, for instance). If it's out of stock then demand is obviously greater than supply (running the opposite way isn't desirable for profits either) but it's not easy to tell why.
It seems a 65W AM3+ Opteron is now available for sale in Japan:

No wonder given its paltry clockspeed.
